The article goes on to say that secession is supported by 30% of Republicans and 21% of Democrats.

So basically it's the former Confederacy plus its claimed western territories and the Rockies (counting regions that voted in favor of secession 25% and over).

I'd like to see a random inland state secede, just so that we can have our own little enclaved country on our map like Lesotho or San Marino.

New England probably would have had the highest support for secession during the Bush years, which shows that the real issue is frustration with and alienation from the Federal Government rather than actual desire for secession.

It must be tough for Texas to not have a Texan President running the country into the ground.

No surprise. After all, New England was itself a hotbed of secession against increasingly-despotic leadership in the 1770s.

The real story of this map is how uniform it is, IMO.  Except for the Southwest.
