No, you and TNF would be calling Nelson Mandela an Uncle Tom for not explicitly calling for violent revolution
That doesn't really work given the ANC did use violent means to resist apartheid.

Mandela never categorically rejected violence.
Mandela was no angel, after all.

tbh I'm starting to question whether Lief even understands dialectical materialism.
Tbh I also spend a good amount of my time pondering this conundrum.

TNF and Snowstalker together offer an interesting case study. The latter acts like a radical leftist, but is more focused on being contrarian and using politics as a front to antagonize. TNF acts like a radical leftist, but both commits to it enough to be an activist and does not let it get in the way of being a cool person.

He may end up selling out, but it's good that nobody will think less of him for doing so. But mocking Snowstalker for eventually backpedalling is almost an Atlas tradition.

I have a habit of being unnecessarily vague when I shouldn't be. I'm referring to late 1980s/1990s Mandela, rather than 1950s Mandela (who I also approve of)- eg his decision to initiate peace talks with the regime in 1990, coinciding with the dismantling of the armed wing of ANC, as well as that crown act of treachery, appointing de Klerk as his vice president.

The point I'm trying to make is that Mandela was smart enough to figure out that sometimes violence is productive, and sometimes it's, well, counterproductive.
