Not sure, really. I came into this thread with a basic grasp of Hegelian dialectics but was missing a few pieces when it came to how Marx combined it with materialism. A think the basic gist of it makes sense now... though it seems like the kind of deterministic rubbish idealists are often tempted to conjure up for reinforcing their own special visions of what the future should be like.
