X Oakvale

Obviously party business has been slightly overshadowed by the chaos into which we have found ourselves plunged over these last days, but I would still like to discuss a revised platform.

I would also like the party to publicly pledge support to legitimacy of the current administration of President Tyrion. Whatever his shocking revelations and the spectre of a sitting President being banned in short order, the constiutitonal position is quite clear.

Yes. I'd hope we are all in agreement that Tyrion is the president and we should pledge our support to him. We won't be following snowstalker's games.

I want to endorse the Vice Chair's position of this party supporting President Tyrion and his efforts to re-engage the Executive.

I'd also ask Vice Chair Oakvale to put up the proposed platform for discussion and debate over the next two days.

I would also like to announce that I will be seeking re-endorsement as Chair of the Party.

Anyone who wishes the endorsement of the TPP should make their case here as soon as possible.

An address to The People’s Party:

Ladies and gentlemen, good night.

I have come to this convention with a clear goal in mind, and I would like to make my case to the members of this party. I want to formally request the endorsement of The People’s Party for the October Presidential election. As many of you know, I was a member of this party for a time, and I left in a way which I have earlier recognized as unfair towards those who have congregated here. For that I have apologized and asked for forgiveness, and while some may believe it is curious of me to request an endorsement, I feel it’s a necessary thing to do.

It is not a secret that the country is in terrible shape and that we face one of the most critical moments of our history. We have seen three months of bitter fights, the resignation of a President, the potential ban of another, the rise of separatism and terror across Atlasia. The next President will have to a fundamentally pragmatic man, a man who can lead this nation out of this crisis into a prosperous future, leading an active administration made out of capable and efficient Atlasians. I want to be that man, and I have picked SJoyce as my running mate with the genuine belief that he would make an excellent job, that he would be one of those capable men that I want to have in my administration.

I believe that The People’s Party is a party that knows the value of compromise, the value of activity and leadership, the value of understanding that, deep down, to govern is to serve the wishes and the will of the citizens of Atlasia. I also believe we share a common interest in a pragmatic foreign policy, in the cause of fighting to preserve our environment, in the need for common sense reform of the game and the goal of helping small and large business thrive so the country can thrive as well. During my life in Atlasia I have worked in one way or another with most of the members of this party, and I would be honored to count on your support, not only for this election, but for the next four months as an integral part of a Lumine/SJoyce administration.

Thank you very much,

Lumine.

Fellow party members,

I'll keep this brief, since Lumine covered most of everything that needs to be said. I've been a long-time member of this party, and believe that The People's Party has proven itself to play a critical role in this country's politics over the past several months. It's been members of TPP who have been critical of the administration's less-than-wise policies, and it's been members of TPP who have been critical of the occasional insanity proposed by the Hiflys of the world. The People's Party has always been a party about The People, and I'm a part of this party because we're not about toeing the party line, and we're not about petty partisan fights. This is a party about doing what's right for The People.

I'm asking for your endorsement for our ticket because this is a ticket that holds the interests of The People at heart. I have full faith and confidence in Lumine's ability to lead this country, like he has the Senate, through the troubled times we now face. He'll be an active and engaged President in pressing for common-sense policies, and I agreed to be his running mate because he's someone we can count on to represent The People. We'd be honored to have y'all's endorsement.

I suppose I don't stand much of a chance at this but I may as well make the effort. Tongue

The last few days have been instructive on what my strengths and weaknesses are, I admit this. I'm really bad at role-playing. Just one of the many reasons I never get to play D&D with all the cool kids. But nevertheless I have demonstrated in the past that I care deeply about the ins-and-outs of how Atlasia works and when given the opportunity, I am a tireless worker of policy.

I have been around for a long time now and so have many of you in TPP. I recognize in a lot of ways TPP tends to be born out of frustration with the game, and the broader political landscape. I've been with Labor since the beginning, but wherever I have been, I have always been my own, maintaining close personal and working relationships with many of those outside of the rest of the cliques most people tend to stay within. Whenever people bother to work with me, or get to know me, we can admire each other, and respect each other, and work with each other.

Duke always used to tell me there was a part of me that belonged in TPP. In many ways he's not wrong. I share most of the same priorities as the rest of you. A distaste for shenanigans, a never-ending desire to make the game more interesting, to work together with no vicious personal campaigns. Many of you agree we should reform the constitution, better our wiki, alter our elections, that our game needs periodic clean slates. There has been no better advocate for these things for as long a time as I. There has been no other individual as frequently willing to put these proposals into writing for as long as I.

I'll happily answer questions you have, if you have them, but I just ask for your honest consideration.

Though I understand if it's difficult, particularly in all the chaos, where the rest of Atlasia looks like this at the moment:

The first order of business.

While we finalise the draft platform, let us move to the Party Leadership Election.

I am seeking your endorsement for another term as Chair and I am nominating Oakvale to remain as Vice-Chair. I believe we need to retain our leadership team during this time of instability and while we continue to build our party's structures and platforms.

Over the next 24 hours, all of those who wish to seek our endorsement for the upcoming elections, or wish to nominate for party leadership will need to indicate it, so we can start our election and endorsement vote.

Members of the TPP party,

I come to your convention to ask for your endorsement in this month's Presidential election. My more distinctive proposal is more legislative autonomy for the Senate and for the regions. I want the legislators in the different bodies to feel job satisfaction and that their work truly makes a difference. By giving autonomy to the legislative bodies I hope this will reduce conflicts and fights with other bodies that try to stop or supersede them.

In the last couple of months Nyman hasn't worked very well. There seems to have been a lack of cooperation, of give and take, of taking into consideration the enjoyment of other officeholders. There were power struggles and gridlock. I did not play a part in that. I was not in Nyman. In choosing me you would choose someone untainted by the recent troubles.

I want more transparency by encouraging people in using the boards to expose ideas and opinions and not work behind the curtains or the scene. I'm someone who is not very active on the forum outside of Atlasia so it's easier for me to not consider things outside of Atlasia that are thus irrelevant. I believe we should give every one who wants to play in Atlasia a chance, even if they don't hold the most popular views or are not the most popular. Everyone deserves to enjoy Atlasia.

Thank you.

As there are no other nominations for Chair and Vice Chair, I declare that Oakvale and myself have been re-elected by acclamation.

We now move to endorsement for parties.

We do have an issue here. Former SoEA Sjoyce is on a ticket with Senator Lumine. As Sjoyce is a TPP member, in theory, he is automatically endorsed as our candidate for Vice President. I see the difficulty in endorsing the bottom of the ticket, but not the top.

Therefore I have made a Chair's call in ensure a smooth process. Sjoyce will be the TPP's endorsed candidate for Vice President. However, I will include a Lumine/Sjoyce option on the ballot, as well as the traditional write-in option. I believe this is fair to all members and to the candidates. Only those candidates who have sought our endorsement will be on the ballot.

It has become clear to me over these past weeks that the cross-party ticket of Lumine and The People's man, SJoyce, provides the best hope for stability in these troubled times. Months of extremist misrule and chaos have brought us to this dangerous point. Now more than ever, Lumine must be our next President.

I'm not sure if its too late to seek the endorsement of The People, so here goes. I think that I, despite appearences, have a lot of common ground with your party. We're both opposed to the extremes of socialism and libertarianism, and instead favour a society where the government plays an important role, without being overbearing. I, and I believe that The People also believe, that the government has a role to play in regulating the free market, in order to combat the negative effects that would arise from a totally unregulated market. Yet, at the same time, I think we share a commitment to supporting private enterprise, and a commitment to ensuring that the public services are run in an effective and efficient way.

Thus, I ask The People to endorse me in the upcoming Mideast Senate race, as a candidate who stands for stability and prudence in government. I would be very grateful if you were to consider this.
