It's quite simple, usually, there's a reason why LTU are in that situation. Plus, they're also the ones most vulnerable to skills degrading, to the being less attractive to employers and the ones most at risk to homelessness.

It's not saying that someone unemployed for 2 months will have an easier time than those who have been looking for 6+ months, but the data does show it.

I think we need to focus on formal education, vocational education and training.

We need to be much much much more specific.

I'll put up some options once this amendment has been dealt with.

To an extent, TNF is correct. Long-term unemployed are overwhelmingly without university education. The answer is not to assume they need one, or want one. A lot of it comes down to re-training and up-skilling. That includes re-certification for tradespeople.

I'm thinking about $5,000 per year for 3 years, no interest loans for people who are long-term unemployed to attend and accredited institution. Or an $3000 no interest loan for people who need re-certification.

Could Senator TNF please provide a definition of 'cooperative enterprises'?

I don't think this would in any way boost cooperatives, but would limit the opportunities provided through other businesses.

I won't support the amendment.
