Obviously, educational discussions, instructions and classroom activites which concern marriage in all its other forms, legal or hypothetical, will still be permitted. However, the promotion of Marriage as anything other than as between one man and one woman by any school employee to any student will not be permitted.

I understand that it may be desirable to get as much done before this session ends, but we've almost always had more than one day for debate on bills.

I understand, but in an Assembly with only 3 members and with predictable voting patterns it's usually not necessary to have long debate, especially as the session comes to a close.

This is a deeply offensive, terrible piece of legislation. I strongly urge the Assembly to reject it.

Indeed, but not particularly surprising considering its sponsor.

The bill is now up for final vote.

You have until just before the end of the session to cast your votes, or until I close voting after a majority have voted in union.

Shame on you, Mr. Speaker. Not only is this bill an absolute joke on the simple fact that you're discriminating against your own Lt. Governor by passing this bill, but offending all other LGBT Atlasians including me across this country. With this bill, you've moved one step backwards on the modern-day accepted status of the definition of marriage of two consenting adults, no matter what the gender.

Your region is sure to see a higher rate of young LGBT suicides in junior high/high school given that you've just given the authority to tell teacher's that those students are less of a person because of who they are. That's terrible! Sad

God damn the whole ing Assembly and everyone in it except you, Franzl. Is this even constitutional? I'm sure we've got something in the Constitution banning discrimination based on sexual orientation.

I hope the Governor vetoes this bill. If he signs, let us have a referendum to overturn it.   However the argument for its unconstitutionality is tenuous.  This is an issue for the region to solve.

Equality of rights under the law is not affected by this bill. I'd recommend you read it properly.

This somehow reminds me of Putin's anti-gay bill.
May the fabulous unicorn army drag you to the pink rainbow hell, whole Mideast Assembly (expect Franzl)

In my view, the bill uses state funds to enforce the promotion of one specific sexual orientation; the comparable analogy would be if we had an amendment guaranteeing equality under the law and forbidding race-based discrimination, and then having a bill mandating that all schools give out white supremacist literature - not forbidding the discuss of all race, but prohibiting giving out any literature to promote any race except for the mandatory white supremacist literature. It's certainly not something to stake your life on, but there's a legitimate case to be made that it violates the Constitution.

Immoral laws like this call for active civil disobedience.  I urge all school employees to refuse to comply with this disgusting piece of legislation should it be signed into law.  The children of the Mideast will thank those who put their students' emotional well-being ahead of the prejudices of two out-of-touch extremists in the Assembly.  I only wish that I had re-registered in the Mideast so I could personally introduce a referendum to repeal this incredibly offensive piece of legislation.

If Governor TJ signs this bill, we may have to prepare the guillotines.
