So this was inspired by the thread on Braley's campaign. Which Senators have run the best re-election campaigns this year? Preferably discuss those in somewhat competitive seats. Tongue

Gardner, Hagan, and McConnell all come to mind.

I guess Scott Brown too if he really does make it close.

Schatz- I waay underestimated him going into this cycle.
Cochran- he got a lot of help, but the fact that he won the runoff puts him on my list.
Brown- I never thought the carpetbagging was gonna be as bad an issue for him as some said. He's a good campaigner and people like him.

If Brown makes it close it will be despite his campaign, not because of it. Sharron Angle also "kept it close", and I don't think anyone would dispute she ran a terrible campaign.

I agree with the three you mentioned though, plus Orman and Capito. If we're talking governors, Hutchinson, Ige, Davis, Wolf, and Abbott would be ones I'd choose.

For what it's worth, I agree with Harry.

I expected Hagan's campaign to be well run. She has the same campaign manager from Reid's race in 2010 and Tester in 2012.

Up until the initial primary, Cochran's campaign was sloppy. But in the three weeks leading up to the runoff, his campaign was a well-oiled machine. I'm still impressed with how they pulled that one off.

Perdue, McConnell, Hagan (though I give Senate Majority PAC a lot of credit here), Gardner, Ernst

that terrorism ad immediately disqualifies him from this list.

Hagan - The general consensus at the start was that she was one of the most vulnerable incumbents. I think one could now argue that she is safer than Udall, Begich, and Braley.

Cochran - Almost everyone thought he was done going into the runoff, but smart campaigning helped him pull off what will probably be the biggest surprise of the cycle.

McConnell - Democrats had high hopes that they would knock him off, yet now there is almost no focus on this race. He easily dispatched Bevin and it looks like his side won't be too worried on Election Day.

Just why are you interjecting facts to impeach my statements may I ask?  That is just so rude.
