My friends,

I'm thrilled to have secured a victory for The People of the Mideast (even if by a margin of victory of 0.02 votes). I salute Assemblyman Inks for all he has done throughout his years in the Assembly and hope he will remain active in the region.

I can't announce too much on policy at this point, but after reviewing the ongoing debate on the Governor's appointment to the Senate, I can announce that I fully support Cassius's nomination.

As most decent people in the Mideast and throughout the nation, I am disgusted by the hateful legislation that our Assembly has produced. It is an absolute and utter disgrace, one that needs to be fought in any way possible. I'm truly ashamed to belong to a legislature that has just chosen to tell a significant number of our citizens that their marriages are in some way less valuable than others.

Be ashamed, colleagues. Be very ashamed.

As painful as it is to admit, I've been a member of the Assembly for this last term. But as evidenced by this disgraceful bill, a lone voice for The People isn't capable of doing much against a dangerously reactionary majority.
