No. Seriously the only people who advise that a car's oil must be changed every 3000 miles are the oil change places themselves. It's not like they don't have anything to profit from more changes than needed right? It's an outdated standard going back to the 70s and is not the case with virtually any car on the road today, in fact some BMWs are known to not require a change until 15,000 miles.

My car's manual advises every 7500 miles. I tend to do it more around 5000-6000 though because it's over a decade old now.

No. 3000 is a myth. 5000 for me.

Whatever the manual says (7500 on the 3, 5000 (because of the turbo) on the CX7), but I'm not very good about it.  Oil changes, at least since the 70s, are a bit of a racket.

I tend to change it between 3,500 and 4,000 miles.

I do not.

I use only Castrol GTX SynBlend synthetic oil, and they recommend 10K instead of 5K like regular oils.  Still, I get it changed every 5K, because the advice is "10K or one year, whichever comes first."   I'm driving five thousand miles per year.  I think changing the oil once per year is probably sufficient.
