In case you consider none horrible, check that borough you think is the most horrible.

How many boroughs can you locate on a map. When creating this poll I thought I entered unknown territory...

Mat-Su is objectively awful, and not just because it is Palin territory.

I would imagine Anchorage, Kodiak Island, and the Aleutians are the best parts of Alaska. Worst are the Mat-Su and northern rural areas. Of course I've never been to Alaska, so who am I to judge.

There are so many boroughs whose cuttings don't even make sense:

  • Kenai Peninsula
  • Kodiak "Island" (lol)
  • Yakutat (rofl)
  • Skagway

And why is the North Slope called a slope? Is it so steep there?

Keep in mind that water transport is important and likely decided where some areas that would not continue be part of the Unorganized Borough would be attached to.  As for North Slope, it is indeed roughly the area that is the north slope of the Brooks range and thus is the part of Alaska that drains into the Arctic Ocean instead of the Pacific.

Don't vote against the Mat-Su because of Palin, vote against it because it's the closest thing Alaska has Montgomery County, TX.

Off topic: A woman I knew moved from Alaska and apparantly she lived across a lake from Sarah Palin, she said that Palin was one of those entitled assholes. Just put it up there because
Mat-Su because it is Palin territory.

Alaska is quite interesting demographically.
It's only one of three states where the heavily densely areas vote heavily Republican.

NH and what else?

There are heavily dense areas that vote GOP in other states though.

upstate South Carolina?

Also, I love how the suburban >70% R area is getting all the hate.

What do you expect? It's Atlas after all. Wink

Greenville and Spartanburg both have fairly D-voting urban cores, though. Which is of course true for Alaska too (and also NH- Manchester and Nashua vote for Democrats).

I actually meant: "more Republican than the sparsely populated areas".
The third state would then be Hawaii.

Oklahoma used to feature this anomaly, too.
