I was able to sit through exactly 6 seconds of that.  I didn't make it long enough to get a message.

The message is fine but the song itself makes my ears bleed.

Does it bother anyone else that the song doesn't actually have much bass?

I've finally realized what Nicki Minaj's song Super Bass is all about...

In case of your interest: This song is this week's #1 in the US, in the UK and in the FRG.
Congrats!

Horrible Song. America does not need more "body positive" messages when most American bodies are in a very negative state. This is especially true for the African-American and Hispanic women who are largely the target of this song. Yes, you do need to worry about your size. No one's saying you have to be a stick figure silicone Barbie doll. But you don't have to be a hypertensive, diabetic blob either.

If I was a fat woman, I probably wouldn't be comforted by the song. The lyrics make clear that the singer is an attractive woman with a nice ass, not an actual fat person.

I know if I had a daughter I would tell her to keep the pounds because boys love grabbing ass in bed at night...awful song.

It's interesting that white women now desire to have a big ass.  It's easy to get caught off guard these days when they ask you 'does my butt look big in this?'

I basically second that, particularly because it comes from a Texan.
Aside from the part with the African American and Hispanic women; Southern white people (men + women) are overwhelmingly fat, too.

I, for one, am glad to be living in a cultural moment where big butts have risen above big boobs as our society's most treasured female physical attribute. Especially after living through the horror that was the silicone-fueled 90s.

I haven't seen the video before. I like the pastel aesthetic. The ironic "I'm dressing like I'm from a commercial from the 50's" grates though.

The song is of course an affable track, and a worth addition to what looks like the best musical decade since the 60's.

Guys, let us be honest: the song absolutely stinks.

compared to good music or to other Billboard chart-toppers?  the first isn't a fair fight, but I think it more than holds its own against the Iggy Azaleas and Zedds of the world.

as for the 'message', total and categorical apathy.

Also, on an arguably unrelated note, I am not, at all, a fan of the spelling of "Megan" with an "H".

I just listened to it.  I liked it because it made me smile.  Not sure what the "message" might be.  On the surface it seems like a put down of skinny people, which is sort of bigoted, but I think that it's meant to be ironic in that way.  It seems to be a pro-social message in the sense that it doesn't tell you what to eat but rather to appreciate your big booty ("every inch of you is perfect from the bottom to the top).  Not unlike the Danish version of how to deal with Global Warming.  "I see the magazine, workin' that Photoshop.  We know that shit ain't real, c'mon now make it stop" is a telling stanza.  Or maybe I'm reading too much in between the lines.  It's certainly a catchy tune.  Simple, yet captivating, at least for 3 minutes.  Also, the fabulously fabulous fat guy in the bermuda shorts and the backup trio inspired by Nicki Minaj is very Old Navy.  Overall, I give it highest honors.

As an aside, apparently this artist is for real.  I've googled a few tunes by Meghan Trainor, and apparently she's very much into simple arrangements inspired by the Doo Wop genre.  The lyrics are systematically soulful and soul-searching.  Not my type of music, necessarily, but as that type of music goes, it seems sincere and is good for a head-bopping three minutes of joy.

Well, there just isn't anything particularly Danish about his views, they are rather uncommon here.

I've never heard it, but I absolutely hate bass, so I'll probably just vote horrible.
