There are jobs that are less desirable than my current one, which I've held for several years now, and I would rather not have those jobs, given the option. It's not so much that I'm innately too good as I literally have the capacity to maintain a job I find more pleasant.

No, there isn't. I've been blessed with having great jobs, but there were times that the economy was tough, and I had to work two, not highly desirable jobs. Yet, I did them anyways, and they helped me get to where I am.

Funny you mention Wendy's, as during most of my jobless times I said I refused to work in fast food. I don't remember why, exactly. Maybe I was just an ass. In the end, though, I did end up applying for several, though I didn't end up working for any of them.

I have met plenty of people who turned up their noses at the notion of physical labour, though. Or who look down on those that do that for a living as lesser. These people are fools.

Right now? No. In the future? Yes. I can't see myself doing anything other than teaching after college, sans a job to bridge the gap between graduation and actually being hired at a school.

1.  manually stimulating great apes in order to collect their semen for research.

2.  telemarketing.

Those are about the only two I can think of, and I might consider doing the first one if I were hungry enough and couldn't find anything else.

Where are you working now?

And to answer the question -- no. I've done some dirty and difficult jobs in my past and, if it was absolutely necessary, I would do so again. There are, however, some of those "menial" jobs that are totally outside of my skill set or comfort zone, and while they ultimately aren't beneath me, I likely wouldn't excel at them.

No, if the alternative is doing nothing, and living on subsidies, or greater subsidies.

No, if the alternative is doing nothing...

Of course it depends upon whether you're independent.  My guess is that anyone who is morally bound to another would do much more to support the home economic than someone who is truly alone in the world.  I'd probably whore myself out to any dealer that came along, whether he traded coke, meth, arms, nukes, or young women fresh off the boat from Viet Nam, if it meant feeding my family.  That said, if I had the luxury of starving singly, Ernest Hemingway style, I might answer differently.  We often have Yes (R) Yes (D) Yes (L) etc. for polls, but this might merit some options like Yes (cannot claim anyone else on my income tax return) Yes (can claim...) etc.  My guess is that anyone who is responsible for someone else is not above crawling through shit if the alternative involves watching people you regard as family languish unto painful death.

What do you mean by "beneath you?" If it were a matter of survival, I'd take most jobs (other than inherently immoral professions like assassin, slave merchant, IRS employee, etc). But, if I had the option of leaching off friends/family, I'd definitely go for that over being, say, a prostitute.

Yes, of course.  I'm not going to do PR for a racist organization or most unions.  I'm not going to be a janitor at a porn theater or a DNC convention.
