Am I the first forumite to have cast a ballot in this year's election? I was rather surprised to receive my absentee ballot this early.

Anyway, voted for Durbin and Enyart.

As I'm permanently residing outside the US with no intent to return, I'm only eligible to vote for federal offices.

Not sure why I should care about whether a black candidate primaries Enyart some day?

I voted in person at my local county auditor's office the same day early voting began. I voted straight Democratic ticket.

I will vote on election day, but I already know I will be voting for Callis, Durbin, Quinn, Frerichs, and Jesse White. Undecided/unenthusiastic on the other races.

Living in Iowa for college, and chose to vote there since that senate race is WAY more competitive (my vote matters more) than the one in Minnesota.

For the major races, I voted Braley, Branstad, Mowrer (Steve King's opponent)

I know I'm voting for Cuomo/Hochul/Eric Schinderman, Thomas DiNapoli and Kathleen Rice... And after the Dave Denenberg scandal I've gone for solid Denenberg to Lean Venditto, and in the State Assembly race I'm still undecided (I'm in NY-14 for that race, and the nominees are Gaspare Tuminello and David McDonough).

Whats the fun in early voting (besides people like Franzl, who live overseas)? Your vote isn't even counted until after the Election Day votes. By the time they get to the absentee votes, the election is already called. I think their is some magic in waiting in line, getting your ballot from the old lady, and casting your vote. Plus, I get a power trip knowing that somebody is reading it and adding it into the pile.....including my absurd write-ins.

Of course, I have only voted once in my life, but still, it's quite vote Tongue.

Per wikipedia, most states count absentee ballots on election day, and also, there are certain states (ex. Ohio, Iowa, Nevada) where the early votes are actually counted before the election day vote.

AFAIK, in California absentee ballots are counted already, and that used to mean that GOP candidates would take a big lead at first, and then see their lead shrink as the election day votes were counted, but thats changed as a less GOP leaning electorate now votes absentee in Cal.

Or, if you're away at college in a solidly dem district but want to vote for a dead heat race in your home district.

Indeed, but the effect is still there. In 2012, CA was only 56/42 Obama at 20% in. In 2010, firina was leading early on.

In Texas, the early* vote is counted before the E-Day totals and is the first set of precincts reported on election night...

I got my Sample Ballot the other day, and like always, the Palm Beach County Elections Board scewed up. Big silver levels that say "SAMPLE BALLOT" are covering most of the ballot, which make it hard to read.

Congress (FL-22): Writing in either the crazy guy running for Gov as a write-in candidate who I met last week or Baba Booey. I hate Lois Frankel but Paul Spain is so bad of an opponent that he doesn't even deserve to run against her in a fairly swing district (by fair, I mean the GOP can win in a good year).

Governor: Rick Scott, but I might vote for Wylie after tonight. I am not going down with his ship.

Attorney General: Pam Bondi (R)

Chief Financial Officer: Jeff Atwater (R)

Agriculture Commissioner: Adam Putnam (R)

State Senate District 34: Maria Sachs (D)

State House District 89: Bill Hager (R)

County Commission District 4: Steve Abrams (R)

Soil and Water Board Group 5: Karl Dickey (I-was Gary Johnson's campaign director).

Voting No on all Judge retentions because libertarianism.

Amendment 1 (Fund Everglades restoration): Lean No, might end up voting yes.

Amendment 2 (Legal Medical Marijuana): Yes.

Amendment 3 (Allowing Governor to fill court vacancies): Yes.

Amendment 4 (Reauthorize Children's Services Council): Yes.

Amendment 5 (School funding levy): No.

Governor: Quinn

Senate: Durbin

Representative: Foster

Attorney General: Madigan

Secretary of State: White

Comptroller: Topinka

Treasurer: Cross

State Rep: Fortner

Spent a lot of time thinking about the governor race and for a while really thought that I'd vote for Rauner and change. But I always knew deep down Springfield won't be better off with Rauner. All he will do is give himself and his friends a tax cut. Quinn isn't a great governor, but Illinois is making progress. He is accomplishing quite a lot (Gay marriage, medical marijuana, death penalty, increased minimum wage), and will continue to do so. For the second time in my life I happily voted for Pat Quinn.

I dropped my ballot off today.  Delicious.

Yes on Personhood, no on local pot shops, yes on education open-window law, no on GMO labeling and no on gambling.

Otherwise straight-R ticket except for a university regent race where there was only a libertarian running against the Democrat.

Yes on retaining Brian Boatright as SC justice and no on that woman appointed by Ritter.

I voted today.

US Senate - Pat Roberts (R)

House of Representatives - Lynn Jenkins (R)

Governor/Lt. Governor - Brownback/Colyer (R)

Secretary of State - Jean Schodorf (D)

I voted Republican on everything else except for State House, where the GOP candidate is crazy. Voted "No" on almost all jobs and voted "Yes" on allowing raffles in the state.

I do wonder, if there is a race where there is only a Democrat and a Green, who do you vote for?
