Cory Booker (D) for US Senate
Roy Cho (D) for US House (NJ-5)

YES on Public Question #1 (Allowing a court to order pretrial detention of a person in a criminal case?)
NO on Public Question #2 ([increasing the amount of] certain State revenues each year allocated for environmental programs?)

I vote for Cho because Garrett is essentially a Tea Partier- for Christ's sake, he consistently blocked Sandy aid! He was one of the biggest voices against DP World being awarded port management contracts, which was a disgustingly xenophobic episode. I look at his website and I see his proposals and go, "No! These are bad ideas!"

I hardly agree with Cho on everything, but he went to Brown and got a JD from Georgetown, and I see he supports the ARC tunnel, the EXIM Bank, and apparently believes that "believes the Affordable Care Act (ACA) requires fixing and significant improvement". He even praises Marge Roukema; in a saner world he'd be a Republican, so I'll vote for him.

The big races:

Senate: Kay Hagan (Pretty obvious from my posts this year Grin)

Congress: No vote. Bob Pittinger is unopposed.

Senate Senate: No vote. My Senator, Bob Rucho (R), is one of the most regressive-minded, arrogant f[Inks] in the NCGA. He oversaw redistricting and was the leading the charge on every major disastrous thing the legislature considered; from voter ID, to abortion, to tax cuts, often to the right of most Republicans. Sadly, he's unopposed.

State House: In a pleasant contrast to Rucho, my Representative, Charles Jeter is as close to a moderate Republican as they come in NC. He'll break with the party on some of the high-profile votes; he was the lone R to vote against abortion restrictions, for example. He's also a strong advocate of independent redistricting, which I appreciate a lot. I'll be voting for him.

State Supreme Court: Robin Hudson (this race is techincally nonpartisan, but state Democrats are supporting her).

Actually no. I've been registered in NC since 2010. I could have changed to LA when I went to college, but NC was more important in 2012. As I graduated in May, I don't live in LA anymore.

already voted.

US Senate: Write-In Branko Radulovacki (D). Should have won the primary, Nunn is way too conservative for me and I can't stand her fake cardboardness, doesn't deserve anyones support and Perdue and the Libertarian are awful right wingers.

Governor: Jason Carter (D), good candidate, charismatic young guy, I hope he wins and I think he'll be a good governor, one of my more comfortable votes this year.

LT Gov: Connie Stokes (D) not a fan of her, she's uninventive and unqualified but she's running to the left of Carter and certainly Nunn, and Cagle is an awful scumbag of the lowest order so yeah

SOS: Write-In: Michael Mills (D). I don't think the Dem nominee is qualified, no other good options so I wrote in a former primary candidate from 2010 who I liked.

AG: Greg Hecht (D) He's a likeable guy, funny attorney, really no issue with him.

Ag Commissioner: Chris Irvin (D) He's a contractor, really not qualified for this position but who really is anymore, just running off the family name but Black the Republican is corrupt and I couldn't think of any better write-in options

Insurance Commissioner: Ted Metz (L) the Dem candidate ran for insurance commish in Florida, she's absolutely awful, and totally unqualified. Metz is an insurance agent, reasonable guy.

School Super: Write-In Brian Westlake (D). The Dem nominee is an awful public schools/teacher hack who just wants to throw more money at failing schools and promote conformity (and common core), the GOP option is a crazy tea partier.. so I wrote in a guy who ran in 2010 and lost the primary, he's an actual public school teacher with some sense.  I support unschooling and destandarizing the schools so the Dem nominee goes against my values.

Labor Commish: Robbin Shipp (D), she was a former state legislator qualified enough I guess, the GOP option is awful so yeah...

PSC Commish seats: John Monds (L) and Daniel Blackman (D). Monds is a former chairman of the NAACP in South GA, actually a pretty chill guy for a libertarian, and the GOP controlled PSC are run by the utility industry so voting against them is a must. Also helps the Libertarians keep ballot access by voting for Monds.

US Congress: Write-In Myself... the GOP incumbent is awful, the Dem is a GOP plant who is a member of a right wing militia.. Voted for myself out of protest, I'm eminently more qualified anad not crazy.

State Senate, Solicitor General, County Commish and School Board: The Dem candidates

State House: Wrote in myself, GOP incumbent is unopposed, can't think of anyone better.

Soil and Water Conservation District: Countywide race, I wrote in Rachel Carson of Silent Spring fame as a protest vote.

Constitutional Amendment A (cap statewide income tax): NO, crazy right wing idea to put a hard cap on tax rates, would only result in budget cuts and such, bad amendment.

Amendment B: Voted to add extra penalties for reckless driving (Yes), don't have a problem with punishing people who drive irresponsibly and put others at risk along with snarling traffic.

Statewide referendum on state university system not paying any income tax on their land: I voted NO they should not be exempt from paying property taxes, the language on this is misleading and its a scam they don't really hurts the counties they are located like Clarke County (Athens where UGA is), one of the poorest counties in the state and UGA doesn't pay property taxes while owning lots of land there, hurts the county a lot.
