He could have been solid, but he spent most of his time embroiled in racial controversy. He took a few opportunistic swipes at corporate America, and he didn't care much for gun rights or effective gun control. He also failed to respond in a timely manner to public criticism about the potential use of drones on American citizens.

The Rand Paul saga was fueled by a despondent AG and DoJ. Holder was pressured into writing the letter to satisfy the polls he ignored, which escalated following flubs by Hagel and Brennan during confirmation. Holder did the smart thing by writing the letter, but he also contributed to the conditions that required the letter.

I don't see hate crimes behind every tree and under every rock. Holder is not quite so objective. He doesn't represent the American people.
