It's looking like the Republicans are probably going to gain the Senate at this point. Obama needs to veto like crazy, but of course he won't.

It's not like Democrats were going to be able to get 60 before 2020 anyway, and 60 is the only number that matters as far as the Senate goes.

Hillary won't be as toxic to Congressional candidates as Obama is. We'll retake the Senate with her coattails in 2016, 2018 will be about even, and we'll have a shot at 60 in 2020 with Hillary's second set of coattails.

If Democrats lose the seats they're expected to lose this year, I don't see them making up a ton of ground in 2020. Pretty much all the seats they'll lose are in already red states. It's not like 2020, candidates will have good chances of picking up Arkansas, Alaska, or West Virginia again.

If Hillary was President the last 6 years and Obama wasn't, I think you'd be saying the same about Obama.

Exactly. It's difficult to see a re-election of an incumbent President (assuming Hillary runs and wins in 2016 and runs for re-election) being an overwhelming wave election for that incumbent President.

Politics is all about ebb and flow; you have to learn how to take the occasional defeat on the chin. Anyone who can't manage that should find something else to care about.

This board is getting pretty dumb. I think I'm going to disconnect from this whole midterms business until Nov 1.

Probably true, but so what?
