Hated it when I was in Middle School.

Started to like it when I was in College (cosinus blabla).

You took trig in middle school? You must have been an exceptionally gifted math student.

Took what?

That was the program for every student. That was really basic though.

Indeed. Think trigonometry was done in 9th grade at my school. Not exactly difficult material in school, but middle school would be quite early.

Piece of cake, much easier than algebra word problems.

Perhaps Europeans call what we call geometry trigonometry? Trig here is the final course before calculus. Pretty much exclusively 11th and 12th graders.

Very easy, though it's called PreCalculus in America and is combined with algebra.

Of course, I was a physics major in college who went through partial diffeq, so I'm a little biased here. Tongue

Love it.  Use it every day.  Life wouldn't be complete without it.  I was just discussing the Law of Cosines today as it relates to Newton diagrams for inelastic scattering in crossed molecular beams.

I don't know if it's easy or hard, though, so I went with so-so.

It kicked my ass in college, but I wasn't really paying attention/didn't care.

I don't think anyone in middle school took it as a separate class, but don't most people get introduced to the basic concepts of trigonometry in 8th grade algebra?

Hardest math class I ever took. Also my lowest grade in high school at 73%.

Depends how you define "basic concepts." I'm pretty sure I knew what a triangle was long before 8th grade.

I suppose they also call algebra "calculus", since I've known many Europeans and Asians who took calculus in 10th grade in their own countries. Americans are really just that bad at Math.

I took it my sophomore year (of high school). This was not a wise decision.

I don't exactly remember what it is. It sort of blurs together with all the other high school math I took.

I doubt it. There's a reason we don't have all those general requirements when starting uni... Wink

Trigonemetry, in the UK at least, refers to working out things about triangles like their angles, areas, side lengths etc. Things like SOHCAHTOA, the sine and cosine rules and pythagoras.

Calculus in secondary school at least, just refers to various types of integration and differentiation.
