Baked goods don't package well. They need to be fresh.

If people liked that type of cookie, we would know its name.  I think it must be some type of kickback situation between the cookie industry, supermarket bakeries and depressing office parties.

Are these the soft cookies that taste like an orgasm? If so, then good, of course. Even better if they're chocolate.

I don't like them as much as "normal" cookies, but they aren't terrible. I rarely eat them and never choose them over the alternative.

You have to add more to cookies than a topping with a similar flavor.  It's like adding pasta-flavored paste to spaghetti.  It just doesn't have enough going for it on its own.

On the topic of cookies, I am very sad that Starbucks discontinued their molasses cookie a few years back. It was the best cookie ever and I will never have one ever again. Life is so hard sometimes! God gives you things only to snatch them away. It's just like the Book of Job.

Every once in awhile I convince myself to try one again, usually when around my grandparents, and remember that it's just crumbly sugar dough topped with sugar and more sugar. At least a chocolate chip cookie actually has flavor and a proper consistency to it.

They're called lofthouse cookies, and I think they're delicious! Grin  I definitely intend to try baking them sometime myself.

Well said, although I will add to the consistency point that chocolate chip cookies work in a soft or crunchy format.  Soft is better, but crunchy is fine as well with milk.

Cookies, when baked properly, should have a consistency barely more solid than cookie dough.

There are different styles of cookies though.  I think a really nice cookie has both a fluffy, gooey-ness inside along with a crunch.

My personal favorite is the Compost Cookie at Momofuku Milk Bar in NYC.  That's the number one ranked cookie in my 2014 cookie rankings.
