No, but I almost did join the Army. However, it did not fall through because honestly, the way they run stuff, is like they selling you a lemon car.
However, my sister did serve the Army for 10 years. She was in Iraq for a year, did Afghan too, did Kosovo, and other stuff

I wanted to, but now I am inelligible.
I almost quit work that very day on 9/11 and joined. I know quite a few who did.

I haven't, but if I lived in the 1930s I would probably have gone into the Spanish Civil War on the side of the Loyalists.

No. In Sweden it's compulsory with seven or nine months of military training after high school, but I sort of avoided the draft. Told the psychologist I couldn't sleep in the same room as other people etc. I had better things to do.

I served in the U.S. Army. Never saw action (except for the war games). My service straddled the two Iraq conflicts. I have a cousin who was in the 3rd Infantry. He had some interesting stories to tell. Said it was hotter than, well you know. So was Fort Sill, OK in summer.
Al, you sure don't have the personality of a pacifist.

That is your view and it is fair enough, if I lived in Sweden however I would certainly serve, I can't see why you wouldn't. Sweden hasn't had a war since the 19th century, early 19th century at that.
I must say I agree with StatesRights, it is rather sad that you have better things to do than serve your country like everyone else your age.

Yep. But most Swedish liberals and conservatives aren't very fond of their country, sadly.
And most don't serve anymore, since they don't need a lot of people. But I intend to do it.
