Forget overall control of U.S. Senate….which race do you think will be the biggest story of Election Night? A Senate race? A governor's race?

I personally think it could be a loss for Coakley in MA or Roberts in KS.

Biggest story, or biggest upset? I doubt the national media will particularly care if Coakley loses, for instance. Also, are we counting an upset as in the eyes of the clueless non election observers, or in the eyes of political junkies? For example, someone who doesn't look at polls would be slackjawed if Brownback lost, but most of us wouldn't be particularly surprised.

I suppose an example of a big story would be two of Land, McFadden, and S. Brown winning, or any of the following losing:

Warner
Durbin
Booker
T. Udall
Merkley

Scott Walker losing would be a pretty big deal. Also Davis and Orman both winning in Kansas.

Democrats are going to pick up some governorships. Probably more than a lot of people are expecting right now.

The governors is really where the uncertainty lies. In the senate, I have it down to just 3 toss-ups - iowa, alaska, and colorado. In the governor's races, I have 13 toss-ups. The outcomes range from a 28-21-1 Dem majority to a 34-16 republican majority.

The eyes will be on Kansas. And there's a boatload of governor's races that are very competitive. Connecticut, Florida, Georgia, Colorado to name a few.

MSNBC, like the Forum now, will dwell on Quinn winning just like how many of their talking heads focused on the CA Dem victories in 2010. Serious media outlets will focus on Walker's result (especially if he loses but he won't), the Florida Gubernatorial race and the New Hampshire Senate race.

Orman winning, especially if he is the one who gets to decide who controls the senate.

I doubt this will happen, but I'll be optimistic and say Pressler winning.

Quinn should win.

Coumo losing would be an epic story.

Probably Kansas if Davis or Orman win and especially if both do.

Also, Jason Carter winning in Georgia.  The media would certainly make a big story of his win.

Biggest surprise: Governor Corbett wins reelection.
