As I recall, Abe (Grandpa) Simpson is a card carrying communist (and a stonecutter).

Grandpa is a Republican. He is always cursing the Democrats name when it comes up. I have seen every single episode, probably twice and everytime "Democrat" is said he always has a hilarious comment.

1. Homer-doesn't vote unless there is something in it for him, and no, a free and democratic society doesn't vount. Only voted three times, IIRC-once on some proposition, once for Mr. Burns (a Republican) and once for Kang (or was it Kodos?).
2. Marge-Democrat, but of the Lieberman wing.
3. Moe-Doesn't vote often, but when he does he votes Democrat. The Republicans are a bit TOO law and order for him...
4. Skinner-Vietnam Vet, Mother's boy, not ignorant that he is too upright but doesn't do anything about it-Republican Wink
5. Comic Book Guy- Libertarian. If forced to vote for one of the domineering major parties who destroy our electoral system like JarJar Binks destroyed Star Wars Episode One, he would vote Republican because Elephanto was so vastly superior to Superdonkey. (Best said in Comic Book Guy voice)
6. Otto-Dude! I remember elections! (The candidate with the coolest name-Hahaha, Bush, hahahaha)
7. Flanders-Honestly, I don't know. Sure he's very religious, but he's not really religious right, imho. I'd say he votes republican, but if a suitably spiritual democrat runs, he'd vote for them-ie, he didn't vote for Burns, I'd venture.
8. Rev. LoveJoy-Democrat. He loves god but hates religion, I think.
9. Apu-In Australia, Indians are actually leftist, but in america maybe that's different for some reason. Either way, I don't think he's allowed to vote...
10. Snake-Republican. White trash.
11. Mrs. Krapabble-Democrat, poor teacher.
12. Lenny-Republican, he hints as much somewhere or other
13. Lionel Hutz-Democrat, no idea why
14. Grandpa-preferably minor parties, and never a Dummycrat
15. Cletus-Doesn't vote. Likes Bush but also Clinton, whoever has the most drawling accent.

I can confirm that Abe Simpson is a Communist.

As for Apu, there is an episode where he gets naturalized. The school janitor (name?) is not a US citizen, however.

Willie.  His full name is "Groundskeeper Willie".

Grandpa also claims to have been "spanked by Grover Cleveland on two non-consecutive occasions", which could also explain his dislike of Democrats.  Grandpa is also "president of the Gay and Lesbian Alliance for some reason".

I think Otto is probably a Libertarian, albeit an unregistered nonvoter who would probably forget to vote even if he were registered.

Cletus I think is also apolitical.

I think the rest are okay.  Well, Abe may be more Archie Bunker than you realize, but the SS topic is hot, so it works for now.

All agree, except you find that people who own businesses dealing with entertainment usually vote Democratic or Green, and Hindus just don't vote Repub.

disagree.  Gonesh, like Jesus and the Buddha, is neither a Republican nor Democrat, but his followers come in all stripes, especially the GOP variety.   Indians are one of the few ethnic minorities who generally supported Bush over Gore in 2000.

also I strongly disagree on the entertainment question, since in particular the character on that show who is most closely related to the "entertainment" industry is an avowed republican.

Flanders is religious right. There's an episode where he said "I haven't felt this good since we stole the election!"

Howdy!

I'd bet the bank that Homer is a non-political working class swing voter type. Marge? Who knows, probably Dem-leaner indy...

My guesses:

- Moe, not political
- Skinner, GOP. From my experiences principals often are
- Comic Book Guy, no idea
- Otto, Dem. Stoner.
- Flanders, GOP of course
- Apu, I guess GOP?
- Mrs. Krabaple, Dem, teacher
- Lenny, probably like Homer
- Carl, probably Dem
- Lionel Hutz, probably Dem, ambulance chaser
- Grandpa, no idea
- Cletus, redneck GOP

:-)

It would be interesting to know more about Indian voting patterns in America. Indians and Jews, politically and culturally have much in common, but the political environment in the countries from which they emigrated has influenced their voting. (ex. - hitler = right, gandhi = left)
