Much like all of Franklin Roosevelt's presidential races, this attempt would end in a runoff with an opponent closer to the ideological base of the party. This time, lusciously-voiced wheeling-and-New-Dealing FDR is facing a strong challenge from the left in the form of FLG's old Agriculture Secretary Henry Wallace, who is advocating an expansion on rather than a continuation of La Guardia's policies - universal health care and especially full equality for African-Americans, as well as closer ties with the Soviet Union. Roosevelt is more wary, supporting a significantly more limited set of policies and a more hard-line approach on the communist threat invading our homes and snatching our children.

On the American Union side, things got crazy as insurgent conservative Robert A. Taft nearly managed to beat out Pres. Vandenberg at the convention (in fact, most modern-day historians attribute Vandenberg's pluralities on the first few ballots to fraud). The fiery extremism of the politically-connected Taft (alas, his father is not around to campaign for him, though whether that is a good or bad thing is quite up in the air) is making many waves among the Unionist wing of the AU (the same wing that nominated Vandenberg four years ago, ironically). Can the forces of incumbendy prevail against the popular Taft? Probably not because voter fraud has to stop at some point amirite?

I'm digging this up  to make record keeping easier when the series finishes (it's on 2008 Primaries so it's coming soon).

The victors here were obviously Henry Wallace and Robert Taft.

Taft went on to win the first of three terms, whereas Wallace kinda faded away.

Also I'm curious to see how those who joined after the Worker's Party would've voted.
