"My fellow Senators,
one look at the Statute page of the Atlasia Wiki proves that this page is a thicket of confusing and double-dealing legislation , intangible for nearly everyone and so unappealing for newcomers to the game. This is not even taking into account legislation passed in those mythical "United States of America" that somehow still are in place in Atlasia. This bill is aiming at that one problem - to create a resource for every Atlasian to easily find the current updated versions of our policy progress in the most important fields of Atlasian politics. A published report every month, in the way deemed appropriate by the members of the possibly established committee, provides an easy, quick way to explore Atlasian history of policies and current status, doing away with dealing with the same thing two or three times.
I agree that a committee might or might not be the best idea. I am of course open to any proposals to deal with this work. I thought a committee, working together with the Attorney General, would be such a way; yet there certainly are many, and I trust that together, this Senate can work out the optimal solution, enabling Atlasians an easy, comprehensive update on Atlasian policies.
Thank you for your attention, my fellow Senators."

A committee can work great if the people on it agree with the primary mission for such and work productively towards that end. Otherwise it will fail without ah fail. It is unfortunate that the committees did not succeed last year and the year before.

I've always had a soft spot for Committees, I must say, I think that with some modifications and a solid group of Senators many things could be achieved. This has my tentative support, although it might be for the best if we fixed the numbers so Senators serve in a single committee, just so there's no excuse for being inactive while serving on them.

Since the sponsor's seat is now vacant, this needs a sponsor.

I'll sponsor the bill for him.

Though I'm unsure about how useful committee's are, I'm not opposed to them being brought back.

I guess you are all misinterpreting the point of the bill. (Is my English this bad? Tongue)
I do not want to reinstate Senate committees with that bill, my intention was to create a thread where a group of people (I though of a Senate committee, but every group of informed Atlasians would do) assembles a "curriculum" of our current policy status on every major field. I thought of a committee as the nearest way, but as a said, every group of Atlasians would do.
I guess all points here ever made were made for the sake of committees, but I would rather have discussion over the principal intention over the bill.
Thank you, I'll leave you to Senate business then again.

I think it's telling that everyone who was around to participate in the Senate's committee system agrees that it achieved nothing aside from creating more pointless bureaucracy. It's not a useful way to hold discussions.

I'll give Cranberry a chance to explain why his proposal would be different, but, barring a miracle, I'd like to either table this or vote it down as quickly as possible.

My advice is to ignore committees. They failed hard and shouldn't be brought back under any circumstances. This is a small body as it is. Who cares what a committee does!

Better yet, make me your new VP and I'll make sure the Senate is in order.

The reason that committees failed is because people on them had no desire to, or interest in advancing their purpose, and utilizing them thus in a productive fashion.

The size of the game and senate actually means that committees would be advantageous to handle a matter of fine detail and they have actually worked in the past. The GOR committee worked at first, the Budget committee in 2010 achieved its objectives, though it took a few months longer then anticipated as recall. We would do well to avoid these broad generalizations, it shuts down critical and analytical thinking and traps one in a box.

Single use, missioned focus, well led and compose of honest and hard working member committees have more often than not, succeeded.

Committees are good in theory, but are useless in practice.
