I tried...something....on Christmas Eve. Let's just say that I thought I was being chased by Dan DeVito at one point.

I'm trying to get a summer internship/job doing politics and elections stuff, so I just applied for positions at NPR, PredictIt, and I'm somewhat ashamed to say this but 538. Hoping for the best!

Ugh. I just found out that I have a class with my ex this quarter. We haven't seen or spoken to each other in years and we did not have a good breakup. Here's to an awkward and generally soul-draining ten weeks!

You don't know that to a certainty, especially because it's been years. Unless one of y'all's a grudge holder that can't move on, things may turn out just okay...you might even be friends again, if no one does anything stupid.

....As for me, trying to get my act together to start applying for various Masters Programs...and...having a lot of internal nervous breakdowns.  I had no idea that a MA. Ed and an MAT were different.

It just occurred to me that I might not have a real person jobTM until after I graduate and I'm terrified, since that means I'll be working fake jobs for maybe the next two or three summers. No idea what recourse I have aside from chain-smoking. Grr.

You could take up running again. That's helped me through a lot of rough summers.

My building has been having a problem with a certain door to door magazine salesman (IE, scammer) who comes into the building at 11:30 at night every couple weeks or so and tries and sells his "charity" magazines for "inner city youth." The first time was literally my fault; he approached me at the front stoop at 10:30 PM one night in November and asked me if I'd like to buy a magazine. I declined. He then said that he needed inside, and said he was visiting friends. So I let him in. Three hours later, at 1:30 AM, he knocked at my apartment door and tried to sell me magazines. I told him that if he didn't leave I'd call the cops.

This basically repeated itself three times, and he has become a general menace to my neighbors. He found the broken door in the back of the parking garage and now has unlimited access. When he followed by friend Mustafa out through the parking lot at 11:15 PM, I had enough, and I stupidly confronted him. I told him that if he ever came back, I'm calling the cops. He got right in my face and looked me square in the eyes (I'm not exaggerating, he was inches from my face) and said "not tonight, buddy." Mus witnessed the whole exchange. I followed him out, made sure he was up the street, and lit up a cigarette when the police pulled up just as I was about to dial for them myself. Apparently there were multiple complaints and the officer was about to search for him. I pointed him in the direction he was heading and hopefully he'll be taken in.

Now I'm paranoid about running into him again and getting my ass kicked Tongue.

Oh yeah, when he yelled back at me as he was leaving "I won't forgive you if you call the cops man", I yelled back "I don't give a fINKs about your forgiveness or your inner city kids" in front of a bunch of people who live in my building returning from the Jimmy Johns across the street. So now they probably think I'm an asshole too.

I have a roommate, who also happens to have a taser and really is itching to use it. So I feel safe though I agree my adrenaline fueled actions were reckless.

I'm about to watch a certain Pasolini movie that I know will highly disturb me. But first I want to get really drunk. I wonder if I'll make it through the first half hour this time.

Update: Finished Salo in it's entirety. I don't know what to say. I'm just in a shocked state. I think I'm just going to pull an all nighter because there isn't going to be any sleep anyway.

You're braver than I.

The movie I most recently saw was The Hateful Eight. Utterly, sickeningly disappointing, the first Tarantino movie I unequivocally have not enjoyed. I actually felt the need to sneak into a showing of The Force Awakens for a few minutes afterwards to wash the taste out of my mouth.

A girl I went to high school with died from an overdose on Friday. I didn't know her or much about her besides her profane rants about Christians, fellow students, and teachers on Facebook and she left the school during Junior year. Still quite sad to see somebody dead so young.

Today, there was a successful concert for the orchestra I play in. Attendance was pretty low, and the second violins were pretty sketchy (it's always the second violins), but we actually did better than I'd anticipated.
