So one of my friends came out as transgender and I realized I'm a furry and I got a haircut (in that order).

Reported.

On the one hand, I forgot the GovPol extra credit quiz today. On the other hand, I convinced my mother to vote for Howie Hawkins.

I managed to recreate Chipolte's barbacoa in my crockpot today. It is quite delicious. I am having it on spring mix greens with black beans.

I'm well-rested and feel like I should make some sort of public apology for my meltdown last night and then get back to my life.

I just got it off the internet.

¼ cup apple cider vinegar
6 cloves garlic
4 teaspoons ground cumin
1 tablespoon dried oregano
1 teaspoons ground black pepper
1/8 teaspoon ground clove
4 chipotle peppers (from a can, packed in adobo sauce)
1 tablespoon adobo sauce (from the chipotle pepper can)
1 cup chicken broth (or 1 cup water and 1 teaspoon chicken base)
¼ cup fresh lime juice

Just make that nice sauce in a blender, and pour in and let your 2.5 lb pot roast steep in it on Low for 12 hours.

Damn, Gabe. I can understand anger at moderate Democrats rejoicing, but you'd have to be some sort of deluded teenaged Marxist to enjoy a Republican wave because Nathan or whoever didn't like it.

...oh wait.

And one of my best friends left for BASIC this afternoon. Won't be seeing him until March. Sad.

You'll never know the feeling of victory or defeat. Only irrelevance, forever and for always.

After BASIC will he be doing FORTRAN, COBOL, or C++? Wink

I know this is probably going to sound lame and cliche, Nathan.  But I think it's true anyway.  So much can change for the better in six weeks, one year, ten years.  There are so many great things I've experienced and learned since the times when I was at the lowest of my own lows--I really can't imagine now what a terrible shame it would have been to foreclose all those possibilities before I had a chance to experience them.  So, no matter what, just hang in there, man.  One upside to impermanence is that even very bad things pass.

Besides, a long time ago, in response to some mean post about how little the poor contribute to society, I remember you wrote that there was value in just existing--the quality of one person's experience and being increases the value of the world.  That's true of you too.

Besides, this forum needs every compassionate and smart poster it can keep.

So, like I said, hang in there.

In all fairness I manage to keep my Atlasia accomplishments to myself so I guess that's good.

Thank god you didn't tell my mom you're a socialist, she probably would've performed an exorcism on you.

Went to the Sigma Sigma Sigma semi-formal last night. Grabbed dinner with my family in my area tonight before heading back down to Detroit.
If two members of ΣΣΣ were to wed would they need a wedding license or a six sigma certificate?

Well, I was using the term "guyfriend" here because me and Tommy weren't official, but I'm happy to report that we're now boyfriends. So happy. Smiley And only two more weeks until I'm back in Kingston...!

So I witnessed another burglary last night.

Around 12:30 last night, a car alarm that was extremely close sounding went off. I went to the bathroom window that overlooks our driveway from the second floor and looked out. None of our cars were going off, and it appeared to come from next store. I thought nothing of it and was about to go to sleep when I heard a crashing sound, the neighbors dog barking, and in the corner of my eye, a flurry of movement. We have had some false alarms before, and when the car alarm went off, I figured that a neighbor set it off with their keys by mistake and went to sleep.

At 4:30 AM, my dad found a bike in our front yard when he went out to get the paper. After checking our cars to make sure they weren’t robbed, he called the police. The neighbor and his son were woken up at this exact same time by their dog and came outside, and found the bike, which belonged to them. My neighbor, who is a gun nut and lives in a walled in house covered with cameras, checked out his property and cameras, and found video of a young black male in a hoody (cliché as hell Tongue) trying to enter our house through the front door, going up into our driveway (obscured from the camera), before entering their property and stealing their bike. Apparently he went back into our driveway at the exact same time I was in the bathroom and bolted when I opened the window, leaving the bike in the grass.

I still don’t know why the dog was barking nearly five hours after the incident, but for whatever reason it was, and they awoke the neighbors at the time my dad was out. They apparently missed the dog at 12:30, for whatever reason. The police were called, but they could do nothing of course and tonight everyone around is extra paranoid.
