You know, I've realised that it must be harder for me to get away with skipping classes due to the whole being black thing. I was just thinking about it now, since I was considering getting up earlier to write something (in French, and I'm tired and having enough difficulty stringing together sentences in English as is) and possibly skipping an early class (and going to recitation later), until I thought about it and it dawned upon me that my absence would probably be noted being the only person with this... distinguishing characteristic in a class of 40-odd people.

That, I suppose, and the fact the syllabus gives no guidance whatsoever as to what's going to be covered on a given day so I couldn't possibly make up for it by reading the book. Which I don't actually think even covers what we're doing now. So the "proper" reason as well. Suppose I ought to hurry to bed then.

Wait is there a non-college algebra class at his college? Huh

Maybe it's Linear Algebra or something appropriate like that and I'm being unfair, but, particularly when throwing in the "Interpersonal Communications" thing, I get the impression it's not terribly, erm, advanced.

It's a prerequisite to get into Calculus, which is a class I need for my major (Accounting). It is a lot of college-level based stuff like dividing polynomials using long/synthetic division, complex (imaginary) numbers, and vertical/horizontal/slant asymptotes. Easy stuff, I know. Tongue

The Interpersonal-Communication class I'm simply taking for a few more required English credits. I already finished the last required College Composition courses, but I'm still 3 credits short. The class itself is an easy A, and the Rate My Professor check on the professor only made it easier!

My grandfather passed away this morning. He had prostate cancer that had spread to his bones. He had a last hurrah, enjoyed his haggis, neeps and tatties and was comfortable.

Why be sorry?  It sounds like he enjoyed his life until the end and had friends and family close at hand.  May we all be so fortunate.  That said, I sympathize with your loss Andrew.

Found out how I'm related to King David (and therefore Jesus) so that's cool.

That's nice and all but the important question is: can you turn water into wine?

Well, my boyfriend and I just had a spirited discussion about whether it's okay to alter classic children's books for political correctness. Logically I know I was on the wrong side, but emotionally it just feels wrong to change the words of Dr. Seuss and still ascribe the new version to the author. "Policeman in a pail" is not the end of the world.

Speaking of Seuss, there's a new Seuss book, What Pet Should I Get?, coming out this summer.

Things appear to have calmed down between my parents for now.  They probably won't separate just yet.

You're not though. I don't know how to be consoling without sounding too cliche, but you do matter. It's okay to feel upset in the moment obviously, but I hope you get better soon. Best wishes.

So our LAMBDA Gay-Straight Alliance group is finally going to have the official club shirts ready by April! There's going to be a T-Shirt design contest which we'll vote on at our March 3rd meeting (which will also feature an open Safe Zone Training), and winner gets a free of charge shirt.

I'm entering a design that has the state of Ohio in rainbow colors on the front with the name of the group below it. On the back, it will have our custom name that we want on there and our sexual orientations. I might add something else before the final submission. Any other ideas you guys might have are appreciated!

I already know one of my friends is also submitting a design of a shirt that's tye dyed and has the group name and a quote, so my design is by no means guaranteed, but it will be awesome to have a club shirt no matter what the outcome.

I'll post a selfie whenever the shirt comes out!

In my lecture on federalism today, I put a picture of Andrew Cuomo on a slide as an example of a governor. I can imagine the mass outrage if the class was filled with Atlas posters.
