Just got home from my shift at work. No overtime/holiday pay because good ole Acme doesn't consider Easter a holiday. Such is life.

You should see if that gay-hating pizzeria in Indiana is hiring. I'm sure they give Easter off.

I'm too gay to work there.

I spent basically all of yesterday in distress, wondering if the way I thought I saw myself was a lie I held close in order to avoid going through with what I may have to do in order to feel complete. I'm lucky I have a partner who understands, although I wish I had friends I could talk to as well. What's worse is I woke up this morning not feeling the distress.. making me wonder if I felt that way yesterday for nothing or if it will just sneak up on me again. Either way, it's time I finally went to see a therapist and talk about it. But even discussing it openly scares the sh**t out of me. So I'm pretty confused at the moment, and think I'll bury myself into some programming now.

I'm going to write an essay for the International Shinto Studies Association's 2015 Shinto Essay Competition. A friend turned me on to this opportunity earlier this evening. The first prize is a round trip ticket and a week's accommodation expenses in Japan, the second prize is a hundred thousand yen, and the third prize is fifty thousand yen. Even if I don't get any of the prizes, I feel that entering would still be a good resume-builder and way to get myself noticed as a [semi-]serious academic-type. One of the subjects is 'Shinto and Christianity', and I'd like to write my essay partially as a criticism of exclusionary tendencies within Christianity by comparison to the way Shinto organizations understand 'membership' and its relatively loose relationship to the idea of the religious in-group.

While I still very much consider myself a socialist, more political reading plus a general distrust of people  (though nowhere near as bad as the childish misanthropy that I've held before, and I still trust the average person more than anyone in the global ruling class) have somewhat blunted my revolutionary spirit. I strongly admire my comrade TNF's boundless optimism in contrast, though at this point I see it best to focus on college as well as my personal hobbies (mostly video games) for my own sake, with political reading on the side to refine the specifics of my worldview.

Just a shame the hotel WiFi is bad.

My boyfriend has recently decided to start getting mad at me and arguing with me about really stupid things. It's quite fun. Apparently my not wanting to wear gloves when doing the dishes is apocalyptic. Who knew?

I'm sorry, but that's a very gay thing to get mad over.

A few of my roommates actually,...the ones that could be bothered to clean up after themselves occasionally I mean.

I almost died today.

I just returned from the dentists, where they put in a few fillings. One of them (the size of a quarter) came loose and went right down my throat. I choked for a solid minute and felt I was going out like Joan Rivers Tongue. Thankfully my doctor and his nurse were present and tried to dislodge it, but in the end I just swallowed it. I swallowed it, and I might have to get x-rays if I don't pass it in the next four to five days. Ugh.

Does that gets you a discount? Do they bill you the fillings they badly installed?

Congrats! I was an intern with Rep. Judy Chu last year, but at her district office, and it was really fun. I visited D.C. a few years ago and I loved it. Lots of cupcake places there...

So I just got stuck in a "two places at once" situation. I was set to go down to Athens (Ohio University) this weekend for the Queer Studies Conference - Rainbow Intersectionality: Coming Out at the Crossroads of Identities with 5 of my friends who also belong to Lambda GSA.

.....But my boss released the schedule for the rest of the month yesterday and has me working for Friday April 10th (even though I requested that day off). I would just call off for that day because technically I already reserved it, but I'm also not the type of guy who likes to be an arsehole with this last minute sort of stuff.

I don't know what to do, but I need to know by Thursday afternoon. Ugh. Sad

Oh yes, because it is totally worth hanging your place of employment out to dry in order to attend "Queer Studies Conference - Rainbow Intersectionality: Coming Out at the Crossroads of Identities."
