I'm very happy for you, B.

Though I think Queen Bacon sounds way way better than Bacon Queen.

Well if we get to flip titles, Empress Bacon then. Tongue

But then you can have all sorts of puns with "Dancing Queen"!

Hi, crossposting this from AAD to here so it can be on both sites. I don't really want to attention whore about this, but coming out to all you internet people is a step towards coming out IRL which is a very intimidating thought

I won second place in Sister Cities International's worldwide essay contest. Now I apparently have to read my essay to the Boynton Beach City Council. I'm trying to get out of that part.

Lol. Good luck!
I already emailed the lady and told her that I might be out of town. That should give me an enough time to find a way to attend the meeting without having to read it.

I had lunch at a place styling itself "Cowboy Brazilian Steakhouse". No idea what made it specifically Brazilian. Maybe it was the Brazilian-style collard greens on the salad/hot bar, whatever that meant. Still, it was a nice enough place, so I could see going there again the next time I head to downtown Columbia. Went there today to see the documentary Compromised at the Nickelodeon, our local art theatre. It's a recently completed film about the 2000 compromise that brought the Confederate flag down from the dome to where it is now on the State House grounds that was added as a fund raiser for Emanuel AME. Unfortunately, they'd sold out, so I didn't get to see it with my girlfriend.

Is it rude to call somebody out on a strawman argument? I called my uncle out on one during a heated debate over Bob Dylan's legacy. He seemed really hurt by it. How else am I supposed to respond to a person who says "I must be wrong, I was only alive at the time" when in fact they were born ten years after the song in question was written.

I don't think you should worry about it. I ripped my aunt a new one on Facebook for railing against marriage equality.

SIGH.

Jury duty.

AGAIN.

Most people I know only get stuck with jury duty once or twice in their lives.  I've had the pleasure so many times, I've lost count.  At least it's only municipal court.

Oh you should read it. At these type of council events the expectations are low, so you can only do well. BTW my wife is the head of our local Sister Cities group and is currently in Germany at our Sister City. I'm home alone with the cat.

I'm heading to DC starting July 4th weekend, but I'm a little worried about the terror attack warnings. Also, I'll be interning in the Senate for most of the Summer once I get there, so stop by and I can give you guys tours inside the Capitol building (the code word is jao).

While I was doing my job as an AFP field associate, I went to former Miami Dolphins coach Howard Schnellenbergers house. I had no idea he lived in a working class Boynton neighborhood. Nobody came to the door, but the spelling of the name, the age, and the name of his wife all matched according to a quick Wikipedia search.

I met Schnellenberger once before at Hooters several years back. He's a good man, and a hell of a coach.

I guess Mississauga is important enough to the Liberals in the next federal election that Justin Trudeau showed up out of the blue at our local Canada Day parade. I was sitting there watching and next thing you know my uncle says "here comes Justin." I thought it must be a joke. But sure enough, there he was walking along the sidelines shaking hands. I got in a handshake too.

I'm such a n00b, but I actually really appreciate that out of all the places he could be in the country on Canada Day, he chose to walk down our Main Street just seconds away from my family's home. It won't be enough to woo me, but it does soften me just a little... Cheesy

Was it overbearing with a pungent aftertaste? Potentially like a beer I once tried called Wolfentoad?

I went to Vero to listen to the Dead's last show with my uncle. He went to bed early, but their last song-Attics Of My Life-left me in tears, especially as one of the band members (it was over the radio, I couldn't tell who said it) said "be kind, everyone" as they left stage one last time.

Did you call Ghost Busters?
