My School does an exchange program with Pakistan wherein some students come to the U.S. for a month. At the end of the month, they go to DC for a week with some students from my HS, and I have been selected! Smiley

Less fun-ly, I have to work on college applications. UNC is due on Oct. 15th, and I'm wildly behind.

Congrats!

Surgery was a success. Safe to say my weekend is going to be "disregard everything, acquire ice cream".

Good to hear.

When I had my wisdom teeth out, surgery was successful, but I later developed a dry socket.  That was a little unpleasant.

One of my friends was killed by a drunk driver last night. I'm not much of a praying man, but keep him in your thoughts and prayers for me.

I'm very sorry to hear that, that must be very tough. Sad  He'll be in my thoughts and prayers.

While playing in the garage, my cat killed a large mouse and brought it into the house.

My GF was hit by a car earlier today.  Not as serious as it could be– we're still waiting on MRI results but probably nothing broken?– but the whole incident was a shocking display of selfishness and inhumanity on the part of the driver and I have been quaking with rage all day.

Will have much more to say about this later.

Very sorry to hear that.  Hopefully she's ok.

The ground here in Sioux Falls hardly has any snow left.  Very different from a few days ago, though we didn't come remotely close to Buffalo-level snow.

Today, a teacher who I greatly admired and looked up to died of cancer.  He departed about 2 hours ago and I am in total shock right now.  I know many of you don't believe in god, but if you do, can you include my school Westside and his family in your prayers.

Very sorry to hear that. Sad  Your school and his family will be in my thoughts and prayers.

It's finally starting to feel wintery here.  The ground is covered in snow, and if you went outside yesterday, the wind would blow in your face.  It's a quick change.  On Sunday I didn't even need a jacket.

I'm taking a class in (American) handball.  It's more intense than what I'm used to, and it makes your arm and hand sore, but I'm starting to get the hang of it.

Things appear to have calmed down between my parents for now.  They probably won't separate just yet.

I have a mild cold.  Thankfully it doesn't look like it will be too bad, and I should be fairly productive today.

I saw some wild turkeys in my neighborhood, which was a fun, unusual sight.

Currently, I'm planning a summer vacation in Maine.

Finally graduated from college (though I had enough credits last year).

A friend and his other half from America staying with us (who was not injured) was involved in a serious road traffic accident. His other half is here and will be here for as long as it takes but our friend has been unconscious for three days and is critical. Things are a little tough right now.

He passed away today.

Very sorry to hear that. Sad

I've been thinking of suicide recently.

Oh God, please don't! Talk with your friends, relatives, loved ones. See a psychologist or psychotherapist. They can all help out with whatever problems you have. Please stay strong.
I echo Tony's words here. I too have flirted with suicide from time to time in my life, but it's not worth it. I'll be praying for you, TDAS. I know what depression can be like.

Thanks.  I am getting professional help, and I'm talking with family and friends.  I think I'll be ok.

I'll be taking a trip to Des Moines in a few days.

Also, this fall, it looks like I'll be working at a local repository containing archives, a library, and a museum.

My area got heavy rain last night, some homes flooded.  Fortunately, mine did not (unlike five years ago).

I arrived to the meeting about my internship. There was no interview. They immediately put me to work. I'm back after a three year absence from politics and for the first time since  November 2012, I truly feel my depression is gone! Smiley

Great to hear! Smiley

Today was the first day of my new job at the library, which involves a computer and lots of listening to old vinyl records.
