Applied to the position of "Passport Specialist" at the agency in Philadelphia.  Starts at $50,000 with benefits.  Would be an ideal situation and I could even be in the market to get my own place without doing a roommate search.  Crossing my fingers and praying to science.

What does a Passport Specialist do?

"Typical, cushy administrative government job"- description from a friend that works there.  I applied not so much for exactly what the job entails, but more so for the 9-5 hours, work sitting down, weekends off, government holidays, benefits, healthcare, proximity to home, etc.

Played a solid 3 hours of Zelda after the football game.  Went nicely.  Plan to hit the job search again for the majority of tomorrow.  Still going for government jobs, as my year of grad school completed can often be used in lieu of actual work experience for better pay grades and positions (up to 60,000).  Kind of like... "Yea, he might not have worked in this administrative position... but he's smart and probably could figure it our pretty quick."

Government jobs can be a pretty sweet gig, so I'm throwing a ton out there in the Philadelphia area. The Navy pays me through their form of unemployment until I land one, so still no need to settle for BS.

Here's a fun fact.  NJ is paying me more per week in unemployment benefits than the Navy was in base pay.  I don't even know what to make of that, but I'm glad that I REALLY won't be in any rush and can take the right job offer, as they last for 26 weeks maximum.  I have an offer to be a hotel engineer from Hilton up in Bergen County.  I'll take a look at it, but I have no idea what a hotel engineer does.

On the personal front, I have a sushi date with a hottie from Rutgers on Monday.  Hope it goes well, because she is kinda one of those girls I knew and I wanted to take a run at when I got back to Jersey.  Smart little grad student, really pretty.  There's others, but she's the filet mignon to the other's Outback ribeye.  Definitely willing to put time in.  Wish me luck.

So, a girl I was talking to for a while last year is planning on moving back to NJ (she had moved south for a bit for nursing school) and said she wants to catch up and start talking again.  Wasn't expecting to hear from her so that's a nice surprise.

On the other hand, a long time female friend, and one of my best friends, who I've no interest in getting involved with romantically drunkenly confessed her love for me over the weekend while I was designated driving for her.  I said there's no way, but I can't see this ending well considering how emotional she gets over things, and the fact that we've hooked up while drunk in the past just for the hell of it.  Oy vey.

I have an interview Tues. with ARI, a fleet management company.  They were ranked 27th best company to work for by Fortune last year and a bunch of my friends from college have worked there, all of them said it was/continues to be a great experience.  It's a 9-5 job in South Jersey that pays pretty well... exactly what I wanted.

Scored a followup interview Thurs. based on my first interview today and a couple assessment tests I took with my application.  Looking forward to starting the next stage of my life so I'm quite excited.

Bad day turned into a very good day.

It started bad because I was having the most epic and incredible sex dream possible, something that reality probably can not itself match, because I don't see myself ever sleeping with this Victoria's Secret model.

This isn't the type of thing you want to wake up from, especially considering how long it went on and how vivid it was.  Sigh.

But then I finally got a job offer from a good temp position out in Westhampton as an entry-level office administrator.  Some data-entry, some grunt work, etc.  But at $15/hr as a stop-gap until I hear back from all the various government/federal positions I applied for, it was a no-brainer to take it.  Perfect timing, as the last of my unemployment benefits just were deposited into my account.

There isn't a VS model that sees herself ever sleeping with you, so no worries, HawkerDude.

Ya know, you don't have to reiterate all the the bad things in the world to me, UG.

That's a shame.  Did they give you an earful of life advice like the pig so often likes to do?

Good evening, Whinge Bingers!

I start the job tomorrow at 08:00, the 24th day of April this year of our lord 2015, officially my 29th year on this Earth.  It's not in the field of political science, and THERE'S NOTHING WRONG WITH THAT.  It's a good job and it'll pay the bills and I'm truly grateful for the fruits levied upon me by my savior, the Lord Jesus Christ.  I called up Mom and we are going to go to Wal-Mart in Willingboro tomorrow to pick out some new khaki slacks.  Tonight, I had pizza for dinner.  (Dad gummit!)  But it's a celebration of the job so it's perfectly fine.  I'll go back to tuna salad tomorrow.  Tonight it's Washington Capitals Hockey Club vs. New York (Long Island) Islanders Icesticks Team on National Broadcasting Company Sports Network at 19:00, followed by Chicago Injuns Savages Red Men Blackhawks vs. Nashville Predators Puck Men at 21:00!  I'll go to bed around 23:00 and awake at 06:30 for Work Day #1!  I'm so blessed.  The most important thing for every single person on the face of the Earth is thanking their Jesus before bed.
