That happened a couple weeks ago.  Maybe it's just on the east coast news?  Anyways, apparently a group of 15 straight 20 somethings attacked a gay couple.  Only 3 got charged, but couldn't be charged with a hate crime under PA Law.  Causing an uproar to change hate crimes laws.

Why is this such big news?  Similar thing happened to me and a friend in Manhattan a few years ago.  It's not exactly a rare occurrence.

It's pretty big news because it was a group of, like, fifteen straight people. A collection of ladies and dudes were out for a fun night together, beat the crap outta some gay dudes just because they didn't like "fags," and then went back to enjoying their fun evening.

It was a huge story around my hometown, but I was still in Cali when it broke.  I was very much hoping they would be made an example of, and sent to the most viable pound-me-in-the-ass prison feasible. 

Do we have any update from my fellow mid-Atlantic residents?
