I've heard of it as CAD but never thought of it as a field. I thought it was just architecture software.

Don't remember but probably not. Voted "no".

Yet more evidence of what an educational experience Update can be for its readers.

Not once.  Never.  Perfect for a wacky Bushie scheme.  Even going back to past seasons it seems so out of left field.

Nope, but I've seen it referenced from time to time since then and it always brings a smile to my face.

many times before, my boyfriend brings it up a lot. also i believe my uncle got certified for it awhile back as part of his job as an architect. although job sort of implies that they actually pay him for his work as opposed to just ripping him off, lol

Yes but the people who do are the highly skilled and highly educated. Not some bullsh**t program.

I've obviously heard of (and actually can use) CAD software but I've ever seen the extra D.

When I was growing up, I watched a lot of daytime TV whenever I was sick and at home. Pretty much all the commercials were either for cheap car insurance, debt consolidation or one of Houston's many distinguished for-profit "career institutes." Among the career paths you could choose, along with cosmetology and medical office assisting, was Computer-Aided Drafting, which they depicted with really bad archival footage of people using really rudimentary software on huge '80s era PCs. ("What are you waiting for? Operators are standing by. Put the world at your fingertips!")

tl;dr Yes, I had.

Same. I knew it as software that my civil and mechanical engineering colleagues in school needed to use on occasion. I didn't know it was a career in and of itself ... seems sort of like having a certificate in Excel or PowerPoint and making it my career.
