CA has become more Democratic since then. He'll probably do a point or two better than Romney did in 2012, but not seriously contest the state and still lose it. He also won't win NJ or MI.

True, but Bush thought he did and outspent Gore $11 million to zero only to lose by 12 points...

Well yes, of course he could.  Is it likely?  Hell no.  But, he is eligible to be on the ballot, so technically he could win.  Maybe if Clinton was video taped killing a child or something... Even then Clinton would probably still win.

If Jeb won in 2016 and was very, very popular in 2020, and he was up against an absolutely awful candidate, then he might could make it closer (than it has been).

Not a chance in hell, he could compete in Michigan, that's it.

Yeah, 2000 was an eye opening election; it proved certain states moving left under Clinton wasn't a fluke.  I remember several people here assumed Bush would win ME and VT.

LMAO what is he smoking ?

If this were 1988 or earlier *perhaps* then again Dukakis was just awful and even he kept it close. Not a chance in hell now that he comes within 15 points of her. She is quite likely to match Obama's performance due to continued demographic change.

As much as I don't want Hillary to become the next President, this is delusional. California's not gone Republican since 1988. Hell, its current Governor has the nickname "Governor Moonbeam." The GOP's only presence in the state is the minority of Congressmen sent to Washington by rural and right-leaning suburbs.

No, Jeb Bush is one of the worst candidates the GOP can run.

Can he hold Clinton under 60%? Yes. Can he win? No.

He might be able to manage a 10 point loss against someone like Schweitzer or Warren.

The only republican I can think of that might be able to win CA is Brian Sandoval, and even that's a stretch.

No Republican can or will win California, but they could come close in the most favorable of conditions.
