Let's say that Hillary Clinton or Elizabeth Warren decline to run in 2016, the Democrats don't want Biden, O'Malley, or Sanders, and they choose the moderate Jim Webb, while Jeb Bush barely wins the GOP nomination. How would a Webb vs. Bush election play out? Who would be the running mates?

Webb isn't a moderate... he's pretty right-wing for a Democrat.

That being said, I hope Rocky Anderson is running.

On paper, Webb should be able to win the Midwest against Jeb. In practice? I kind of doubt it.

Basically this, but I think Bush would be winning Nevada, if he's winning by this margin.

Why wouldn't Webb win West Virginia? That's where his whole appeal is.

Because of the current anti-Democratic attitudes in West Virginia is too strong for Webb? Even western Virginia swung hard against Warner in 2014.

I think that's more anti-Obama then anti-Democratic. There's no real other explanation for the counties in the southern part of the state that went heavily for Gore and Kerry suddenly flipping in 2008. I could be wrong but 2016 will be the test case. I also think that a candidate like Webb in particular would put a lot of resources into trying to win WV.

West Virginia Dems got slaughtered as a whole, even long time very conservative incumbents. It's no longer just an Obama thing.

So maybe he'd win Oklahoma.

As would I.  That being said, I feel like after 8 years of a Democrat in office and Webb being a (in my opinion) a lukewarm candidate that would not excite the base Jeb would carry on to beat him handily.  Though a president Webb would be pretty interesting.

Don't bet on it.  Oklahoma, as a whole, is fond of the Bush family.  We remember HW and W quite fondly, so I think Bushie (not me) would win Oklahoma.  The only knock on Jeb is his support for common core, something the teachers across the state vehemently forced the governor to do away with last summer.  That, and the fact that Jim Webb is as close to a Blue Dog as we've got, might make it closer than past elections, but it wouldn't be enough for Webb to win.

Could the results in Oklahoma be something like 60-40 or 61-39 in a Bush vs Webb matchup?

Possibly.  I think Webb could keep Bush in the mid to high 50's.
