I like the idea of making people adhere to the GM's word, but I'm not sure how to implement this in a way that would be reasonable
That's because there isn't one. It's an impractical and dangerous idea that conflicts directly with freedom of speech and freedom of conscience. The GM simulates events, but neither he nor anyone else should have the authority to limit how people are allowed to react to or interpret those events.
