This time, in South St. Louis.

http://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/worldnews/northamerica/usa/11150470/St.-Louis-police-fatally-shoot-suspect-as-protests-over-black-teen-killing-persist.html

Note: According to various live streams and Twitter, there were dozens of eyewitnesses this time, all of whom are saying that the victim was unarmed. The only people saying that he was armed seem to be the police. Take that for what it's worth.

Every cop should have a camera on him and several on his car.  It will make them act better and prove their innocence or guilt when sh**t does go down.

Your title is wrong.  The city of St. Louis, where the incident occurred, isn't in St. Louis County.  It is its own separate entity.

So I have thinking about this all day. From my understanding (which could be completely wrong) the burden of proof for stand your ground is merely ones belief that their life is being threatened. What would happen if a young black man killed a cop approaching him and claimed self-defense under stand ground laws citing these recent shootings as proof that he had a justifiable reason to fear he life was endanger. It could be that this is too cute by half, but it seems like it could work as an argument (for a Cochranesque Chewbacca defense) if the burden of proof is merely the perception that ones life is under threat to kill under stand your ground. Or this could be completely stupid dunno.

But cops interact with black people by the thousands everyday and rarely does anybody end up shot.  It wouldn't and shouldn't work as a defense (unless, you know, the cop actually was about to murder you).

There is a case in Texas where a black man shot and killed a cop coming through his window during a "no knock" raid on a drug house that turned out to NOT be a drug house (bad information from a crooked informant).  The cops want to charge the guy for murder and go for the death penalty.  The cops are 100% wrong and this man should walk.

The "War on Drugs" is such a endless disaster. It's amazing so many people support it.

While I obviously agree that the war on drugs is bad (mkay), does this have anything to do with it?  Were the three teens that ran from the "off"* duty cop dealing drugs?  That would explain why this kid decided to get in a shoot out with a cop.

And just, you know, FTR, this kid was arrested on weapons charges in June and he resisted arrest then too.  He ain't the angel his family is trying to make him out to be.

*apparently he was being paid by somebody to do a neighborhood watch on his off duty hours, but he was in uniform....so off duty is a bit misleading.

Indeed.  I'm not sure why people keep picking criminals fighting cops to get behind when there are valid crimes committed by the cops to be outraged over.  Like the flashbanged toddler, the guy shot going back into his truck after the cop told him to or the fella I posted about upthread.

Even if the guy was "No angel" that doesn't mean he deserved to die.

No he deserved to die if he was shooting at a cop.  If he was not, then you will be correct, this non-angel didn't deserve to die.

Do I think every former criminal deserves to die, or just the brown ones? Roll Eyes

Why do you feel the need to bring up gun control in threads that have nothing to do with it?

Oh come now, DeadO. Clearly you're missing the point that cops are fascist oppressors who hate minorities etc, etc, etc, ad infinitum.

Something so disgustingly ingrained into the America mindset deserves attack on all fronts.

What might that be? if you're talking about the bullying and abuse of people by militarized police, then I agree. If you're referring to the idea that those same police shouldn't have the right to disarm citizens, then I fail to see how that's disgusting.

Last year British cops killed 0 people, and 0 British cops were killed. We're definitely doing something wrong in this country.
