Interesting race. I think I lean towards Pressler but I would require myself to do a lot more research on the candidates if I was actually going to vote in this contest.

Pressler at the moment. But Weiland seems like a pretty good Democrat (especially for South Dakota) as well.

Pressler.

Always good to have someone (competent) who isn't beholden to either major party.

Pressler, but I'd switch to Weiland if Pressler had a last second collapse.

Eh, Weiland. Even though he's only helping Rounds chances by staying in, I do like his views more than Pressler's and it's not outside the realm of possibility that Weiland could win, either.

If Weiland drops out and tells everyone not to vote for him, then I'd vote Pressler.

Which views of Weiland's do you prefer over Pressler's? Just curious.

These are only minor issues I have, but he supports raising the gas tax, he's done a lot of flip-flopping, and he's only promised to serve one term in the Senate if elected. Again, minor stuff, and I'll support him if Weiland drops out, but I just slightly prefer Weiland over Pressler. That just might be the Democratic hackishness talking though. Tongue

Normally Weiland , but I would potentially vote Pressler depending on what the last polls before the election show.

Under normal circumstances: Weiland
But since this is a race between Pressler and Rounds, I'd choose the former.

It's a shame that South Dakota (and other States) doesn't provide runoffs or the top-Two primary system.
Doesn't any of our South Dakotans want to instigate a ballot measure?

Whoever between Pressler and Weiland has the best shot at winning, so right now Pressler.

Whichever between Weiland and Pressler looked to have a better shot of winning.

Pressler would be a far better Senator than Rounds or Weiland, so him.

I voted Pressler but would change to Weiland. This campaign video, from what I understand he's using it as a commercial, is pretty badass.

Obviously Weiland. If anyone should drop out, it's Pressler.

Obviously Weiland. If anyone should drop out, it's Pressler.

Weiland can only win if Pressler's vote-sucking from Rounds reaches a perfect equilibrium for Weiland to just sneak above both of them. Pressler, on the other hand, probably has a higher ceiling to climb towards at the moment.

South Dakota doesn't appear to allow for write-ins, so I just wouldn't vote at all.

As Harry and Mehmentum said, whoever of Pressler/Weiland has a better shot come Election Day.

Imo, the answer isn't low-turnout run-off elections, it's IRV.

Anyway, I want the Senator who's assured of caucusing with the Democrats, but I'd vote for whoever has a better shot of beating Rounds.
