Since this thread doesn't well reflect our older posters.

All four for me. The earliest died when I was 11, so I remember them all. It seems like not very many people knew all their grandparents.

All of them were alive in 1996. My paternal grandfather was 82 (I was his first grandchild), my paternal grandmother was 71, my maternal grandfather was 57, my maternal grandmother was 54.

3, all except my maternal grandfather.  The rest were in their seventies when I was born.

Three of four. My paternal grandfather died in 1971, 11 years before I was born. But I have been fortunate to have my grandparents longer than many people my age or older.

My paternal grandmother passed in 2006; she was 80 and I was 23.

My maternal grandfather just passed a few months ago at age 89, and my maternal grandmother is still going strong at 87.

3. All of them except my paternal grandfather, although my paternal grandmother was already remarried by the time I was born.

3, same as now. My paternal grandfather passed away almost 5 months to the date before I was born, and I'm named after him.

3

Maternal grandfather died 4 years before my parents met.
Paternal grandmother was buried on my 1st birthday.
Paternal grandfather died 6 days after my 2nd birthday.

The only grandparent I have any memories of was my maternal grandmother.  But since she lived in Philadelphia and died when I was 11, even my memories of her aren't very strong.

On the subject of great-grandparents, I lost my first great-grandmother in 1895, and my second in 1901.  (My 8 great-grandparents were all born between 1851 and 1874.)  Obviously, none were still alive when I was born.

All four of them. My first grandparent to die was my grandpa in December 2011, when I was 24.

All of my great-grandparents died before I was born and I had a great-great-grandparent that died only five years before I was born. The highest generation that I know of that was alive while I've been alive was probably my great-great-aunt (my grandma's aunt).

Errr, can we get a "remove vote" option, because believe it or not, I've made about the most embarrassing error possible.  I was fairly confident only two were still alive when I was born, but thinking about it again I realized three were alive (One was alive when I was born but had died by the time of my first memories).

My paternal grandfather died six years before I was born.  In 1996 I had 3 living grandparents and two living great-grandparents.  My great-grandparents died but all three of my grandparents are still living.  I only know one of them though.
