Could he? Sure. Will he? I think Hillary starts out favored.

Of course.

Virginia may no longer be a safe Republican state, but it's competitive. In 2008 and 2012, it was the state that most closely matched the national popular vote.

Hillary can be strong there, but one of Obama's advantages was the high African-American population. A reduction in turnout makes thing slightly easier for Republicans.

I'd put Hillary as a 55-45 favorite, maybe 60-40

McAuliffe got pretty good turnout last year so I doubt the proportion of blacks falls significantly. Jeb could win it if he wins nationally.

He could of course, but I don't see Jeb as being particularly strong there (or anywhere, for that matter. Just wait until he gets skewered for Common Core and immigration reform).

According to polls, Jeb Bush seems extremely strong in every single Southern state except for the crucial ones like Florida*, Virginia and North Carolina. And outside of the South, he mostly does appallingly. Yet he has improved a million since only a few months ago, so obviously he's doing something right.

*Now, he seems to be the only GOPer to have any realistic chance to win Florida against Hillary whatsoever (Rubio for instance trails her by almost double digits there), but that doesn't say much, as Jeb, like everyone else, would be completely chanceless if he couldn't even win his own home state of Florida.

He could potentially win it, but Hillary Clinton would be slightly favored at first.

Yeah, but will Jeb keep his strength after going through the primary buzzsaw? His positions on Common Core and immigration are basically a giant "kick me" sign on his back, and the other dozen members of the clown car will be quite happy to do so.

I'd say probably not.
