Let's say a presidential recall election would be possible now, like in some states, how would such a recall against President Obama turn out? Republicans nominate Mitt Romney again under this scenario. Is he able to beat the president this time?

I think he could, but I doubt it gets to that point, because Hillary is elected President in the 2006 recall election after Katrina.

There'd have to be strict requirements for recall elections thanks to how partisan and polarized the political climate is, or else I fear there would be recall elections every few months.

What would 1986 or 1978; 1962 or 1966 look like?

1986: Reagan still wins with a comfortable margin
1978: Jimmy Carter probably loses in a close race
1962: Landslide victory for JFK
1966: LBJ still wins with a solid margin

But that also depends much on the opponent.

1950: Truman loses in a landslide
1954: Eisenhower wins in a landslide
1958: Eisenhower wins comfortably
1962: Kennedy wins in a landslide
1966: Johnson wins comfortably
1970: Nixon wins comfortably
1974: Nixon loses all 50 states, or Ford wins narrowly
1978: Carter loses narrowly
1982: Reagan loses in a landslide

1990: Bush wins narrowly
1994: Clinton losses narrowly
1998: Clinton wins comfortably
2002: Dubya wins in a landslide
2006: Dubya loses with Bob Dole/Bush against Clinton numbers
