Man, Joe Lieberman would have had a field day with this one back in the day!

Oh noes!  People that don't play video games are going to get all excited over a game very few people will actually play.  What's it been, 2 years since that CoD game had you killing people in an airport?  Clearly we were due for some recreational outrage aimed at the industry.

Another win for viral marketing and faux-disaffected youth.

I remember when Manhunt came out. If it weren't for the outrage I never would have given it the time of day. I wasn't particularly good at it.

This article made me realize that I haven't played Doom in forever.

I read somewhere that the devs think games are becoming "more colorful, more politically correct, and less violent."

*Just laughs and shows Mortal Kombat X as proof otherwise.*

Seriously, I don't see the trend they're talking about. I guarantee you this game's sole marketing strategy is shock value.

Well there are a lot of non-gamers playing games on facebook and the like that probably skew the numbers.

They really need to make console gaming and facebook/phone gaming separate categories. The two are not similar at all.

Don't forget PCs.  I play a ton of video games and don't even own a console (though I will again at some point).  The kind of games I enjoy the most right now (shooters and strategy) are just better on the PC.  Though I appreciate consoles for sports and racing games.

When will this country finally do the responsible thing and ban video games?

Unfortunately it is no longer just stuffy old white dudes in politics that are concern trolling about the harm of video games on society these days.

Now I want to play GTA V; my brothers Xbox has been locked away since he went away, and my dad mentioned to me that if I wanted it for the time being I could have it. I might as well ask him to bring it home so I can have some fun with it for the time being.

I'm not a fan of the snobbish gatekeeping that says casual games aren't "real" games.

As for the thing in the OP... I assume that there's not much to it beyond trolling for shock value- which is of course legal but not exactly praiseworthy.  Best to just ignore and/or mock.

I oppose any regulations on video games but I'm definitely never playing this.
