Since he's not going to the mountain because he has ebola, what else is there to do in Albuquerque?

I have no idea why Bushie doesn't become a drug dealer.  He won't even sip wine, forget touching his own stash.  And could you imagine the market in the outskirts of OKC!?  I know I'd be operating on a multitude of psychoactives.

Do you even read Update? Bushie would get arrested almost instantly.

Who would suspect a large, seemingly incompetent Christian whose idea of a wild night is a game of Monopoly that goes past 11pm?  Perfect crime, gentlemen.

EDIT: and these would be Oklahoma cops, and Bushie is a white.

We're back at the hotel and in for the evening.  We're pooped, but we had a very good day.  We're going to try to leave between 5 and 6 am tomorrow.

Definitely read that as "We've." I was about to say that this has definitely crossed a line with details.

Bushie….do your parents get at all suspicious about you stopping every couple of hours on this trip to post on the forum?  What exactly do they think you're doing online?

They know I post on a political forum, so they think I'm discussing politics.  I also only post while Dad's driving so we're not physically stopped when I post.  They have no idea about the Update!

After a night of Mexican food they'll be fighting for a turn. Ugh.

You know he's got a fold-away bed at the foot of his parent's, like any 8 year old.

If Jeff ever gets his act together, he needs to send Bushie père and Bushie mère on a couple's getaway to someplace exotic (perhaps Branson). Some alone time is the least he can give them.

Absolutely!  That's a great idea, and I'm sure Bushie would be more than happy to drive them there and back too.  And perhaps personally make sure they enjoy their romantic meal together.  Maybe he'll even pretend to offer to pay for it!

I'm confused about what Bushie gets out of this trip.  What do you actually *do* once you get to New Mexico?  "Go to the train store and walk around Old Town"?  That's it?  And the train store is something that's mainly of interest to Papa and not Bushie himself?  Other than that, it's just the opportunity to eat at some restaurants that you don't normally visit?

Bushie said "We had a very good day", but I'm unclear on what was so good about it?  Not trying to pick a fight here.  I'm just confused.

Obviously, going for the ride is its own reward.

Every day is a good day to Bushie. Even days when he "comes out a winner" at his job.

Yes, this worries me. Especially coupled with the fact that we haven't heard anything from him on this yet.

I stayed in the same room with my parents.  Saves money.  We are back in Amarillo on our way to Oklahoma City.

Meh, I doubt his parents have had relations in 30 years. Who cares if he's in the room?

I don't think the idea of this "vacation" is all that strange. My family never went on any elaborate trips together, and a few of our getaways involved long-ish drives and short stays. If that's the Brown family's idea of a good time, let them have it.

The specifics ... mainly the fact that their 32-year-old son tagged along and stayed in the same room ... are odd, but not unheard of. I've traveled with my parents to events at different times over the last decade.

The same room stuff is certainly a bit strange

I wouldn't find staying in the same room strange if it wasn't indicative of certain other issues.

This is probably for the best, Bushie can't be trusted around the stove alone.

I shared a hotel room with my mother on a short trip this summer. It seems absolutely ridiculous to spend another $80 to $100 on a second hotel room per night when you can get one room with two beds. I mean, we are family.

Then again, this was just a trip to an antique festival, not a romantic getaway.
