The point of this bill is to raise revenue. There's little more to say than that.

So, this act is in essence a bare faced attack upon wealth. I mean, that's all it is. I am somewhat doubtful of the revenue raising potential of this act anyway, but the fact that this bill takes it upon itself to pick out expensive objects and tax them individually is a complete giveaway (mind you, the title of this act is enough to make one realise the real purpose of this act.

Motion to table.

Taxing an item after purchase for the life of ownership...... That is governmental greed gone amuck.

JCL and the Dragonzord second the motion to table.

For clarification I think 1. should read ". . . (that is, non-commercial or non-income-generating properties) . . ."

There comes a point where taxing the rich to manage all economic issues delivers decreasing returns... Most of what is being proposed will actually collect very little at all and would likely encourage shielding and evasion practices.

AYE to tabling

To Polnut, why have you changed your vote to oppose tabling this bill?

Before we move to a final vote, is there anything that might be changed that could convince some of our resident centrists to support a bill that would jack up tax rates on the parasites, or?

I'd just like to know specifically if there are any of them that you'd conceive easing down a tad?
