Morally? Probably. Depends who the average Atlas poster is, though. If it's Miles or Scott, I'm a heathen. If it's like Bushie, I think I'm good.

Actually I consider myself morally inferior to the average Atlas poster.  While obviously I think my opinions and grasp of facts are pretty solid (otherwise I wouldn't have them), my day-to-day habits are not exactly that of a healthy, productive, well-adjusted member of society.

What does that have to do with the average Atlas poster? Wink

Yes but the average Atlas poster at least has the excuse of still being a teenager. Tongue

I'm not very "moral", so no.

Not at all. Atlas is one of the few places where I feel as though I'm surrounded by people who are by and large reasonable and moral, with a few notable exceptions.

Anyone who was so self deluded, and/or would deem it reasonable to respond to such a problematical question fraught among other things with definitional issues, would be a fool to admit it in public.

I have a high opinion of 99.9% of the posters here.

Of course. Belief in one's moral superiority is one of the near-essential qualities of the self. A lot of people create a connection in their head that claims that what they do is right since they like doing it and thinking of oneself as wrong is unpleasant. It allows people to get away with a lot of terrible things through the mere fact that they felt like doing them. It's absurd.

Not.

But many debates about the merits of public policy are grounded in different moral views.  So, to the extent we debate the merits of policy, we're questioning one another's morally all the time here.

Totally.

Actually, that's no so true, anymore.  I used to think that, not just on this forum but about everyone.  The older I get the more I understand that the world is full of ultra-moral people who all think that their morality is superior to everyone around them.  I think that adds to the excitement on this forum, of course, so I'm not mocking the condition.  I'm just saying that I'm ripening enough to reckon that I may not actually be morally superior to all the other people on here.  (The tacit assumption, of course, is that all posters will evolve in this way, which--now that I think about it--may in itself be a manifestation of my perceived moral superiority.  Hmm.  I'll have to think about that a bit more.)

I've never considered where I stand morally in comparison to the average Atlas poster (and how do you even average out a pretty diverse group of people?), so since I've never considered the point, I suppose the answer is no.

Morality is subjective. It is useful, but it is also subjective. I don't think everyone has the exact same set of morals, so it's too hard to say yes or no. Basically, no I don't consider myself more moral.
