My guesses:
Broward, FL for dems.
Waukesha, WI for the GOP.

Democrats-LA County, CA or Cook County, IL as both those counties contain all the major components of the Democratic coalition-urban white "progressives", inner city minorities, and swing voter suburbanites

Republicans-Probably a rural, heavily white and Evangelical county in Texas or Oklahoma

D's: New York, NY
R's: Montgomery, TX

My guesses:
Broward, FL for dems.
Waukesha, WI for the GOP.

It's a good guess, but there is little to no SoCon element here, that's whats needed to fulfill the GOP representation.

Huh, my impression was that Waukesha was unusually SoCon. So I guess maybe Greenville County, SC then?

El Paso County, Colorado might be another good fit for the Republicans.

Ooh, that is a good one. I guess I probably just need to deliberate some more.

These are national parties so having to choose just one county in the country to represent them is almost impossible to do. Coalitions that vote for either party do differ from region to region.

Not sure for the Dems, we're too diverse a coalition and I don't think there is a single county to sum it up anymore. If they were as they were in the 80's, Alameda County,CA would be the pick. But that's just not the case anymore.

Utah County, UT for the GOP (Orem has the Sarah Palin-like hockey moms, Provo has the Big Business, and anything outside those is pretty much just like the stereotypical redneck, except Mormon)

For Democrats there's Providence County, RI

You have:

Wealthy white liberals
White professionals in unions
Working-class "Reagan Democrats" in unions
Disillusioned white "Rockefeller Republicans"
Conservative rural white Democrats
Liberal Mainstream Protestants
Roman Catholics who run the entire spectrum
Large college student population
Latinos
African-Americans
LGBT population

GOP: Madison County, AL

A good mixture of your rural Republicans with some wealthy Republicans in Huntsville.

Democrats: New York County, NY

Liberal elitists to the north of me, working class Dems to the south.
