Yeah, I like how you can even find newspapers that would endorse a disgusting criminal like Rick Scott, but Quinn is completely shut out. It's clear the media holds the parties to two different standards.

It's definitely disgusting that Illinois seems to be lacking in non right-wing media. And just because a newspaper tends to endorse Democrats doesn't mean that their endorsements don't really suck. Example: the San Francisco Chronicle. They endorsed noted anti-atheist bigot Swalwell against Stark. They endorsed the total DINO running against Honda. And they opposed a statewide Proposition that increased taxes that passed.

Governor/Lt. Governor - No endorsement (but they did endorse Ed FitzGerald/Sharen Neuhardt (D) in the Democratic primary)

It's a shame the home newspaper refuse to endorse Fitzy, but at least they aren't jumping on the Kasich bandwagon. The other + for them I guess is they were the only major statewide newspaper to endorse Turner AFAIK.

As is typical Dispatch fashion, their editorials are so hilariously biased towards the GOP; it reads like it was written by the incumbents themselves. They're known as the most pro-Kasich newspaper in the state, so it's nothing really surprising to see.

Attorney General - Mike DeWine (R)

The Enquirer said in their editorial they mainly endorsed Pillich over Mandel b/c of the lack of trust and commitment in Mandel (aka 2012 Senate), yet here they are also endorsing Kasich.

The "protest" endorsement. They're vehemently opposed to Kasich and his policies, but they're endorsing Kasich just to spite Ed.

No endorsements for all races (they don't endorse candidates)

Toledo Blade:

Auditor - Dave Yost (R)

One thing to note; everyone's endorsing Dave Yost. A lot of that is contributed to Yost's stances against his party on JobsOhio and charter schools and his protection of public money. Yost is the odd ball out while it's easy to see why some papers are very reluctant to endorse Kasich, Husted, Mandel or DeWine given how they come off as a lot more partisan than Yost.

Crist just picked up the endorsement of the Palm Beach Post as well, leaving the Times-Union and the Democrat as the only major papers not yet to endorse. If the only newspaper Scott can get is the Trib, then Crist is in a really good spot (the Trib is a small, reactionary paper that endorses whoever the Times does not endorse in the hopes of boosting its market share).

Wasn't the Cleveland Plain Dealer's editorial page supposed to be really right-wing?  Btw, Yost hasn't really broken with his party in a meaningful way, it's more that he comes across as pretty inoffensive and has managed to create a perception that he's far more independent than he actually is (although his singing has led to so pretty cringe-inducing moments ).  I don't think papers have come off as the least bit reluctant to endorse DeWine or Mandel (any editorial boards that endorsed Mandel are surely such right-wing hacks that they'd probably happily endorse any Republican).  Lastly, if a paper doesn't endorse Mandel b/c of trust and commitment issues, why on earth would they endorse FitzGerald (as awful as Kasich's policies are)?

Both.

The Democrats squandered that race by putting so much money into the governor's race, which they couldn't have won anyway but which Wendy Davis didn't help matters with by running a flippant, self-serving campaign based around scaring people into thinking Greg Abbott is going to let ultrasound probe-wielding rapists run loose in the streets.

David Dewhurst, Todd Staples and Jerry Patterson basically did half of the Democrats' work for them by giving them multiple lines of attack to use against Dan Patrick, some of which they should have used (his abysmal Senate record; his sketchy finances) and some of which they shouldn't (criticizing him for seeking mental healthcare for depression). There are probably at least a few influential Republicans who dislike Dan Patrick enough to have endorsed Leticia if she had aggressively courted Republicans. She didn't do this and I don't see a path for a Democrat to win statewide in Texas without doing so.
