According to the Tulsa World, State Rep. and Democrat Joe Dorman outraised Incumbent Governor Mary Fallin in the June-August period. The difference is small, only $28,000, but it definitely shows a change in tide. Still, Dorman has some catching up to do - Fallin has millions in the bank while Dorman is only steadily building his war chest.

However, it's clear momentum is on Dorman's side - His internals have him within a dead heat of the Governor. Take this lightly, it's an internal, but I sincerely believe this has potential to be a dark horse race by October.

Discuss.

The 2014 gubernatorial elections have been one wacky year. I doubt he will win but a Democrat in Oklahoma polling this close during a "republican wave" isn't what you'd expect.  They'll be debating Thursday. http://www.c-span.org/video/?321737-1/oklahoma-governors-debate

Gubernatorial elections this year, by and large, have been local.

That, and there's a REALLY broad range of competitive races.

No doubt a reaction to 2010, in which every race was ridiculously nationalized, right down to county tax assessor. You had a crop of new Republican governors come in. Some of them governed within the political realities of their state and avoided ideological parroting (Brian Sandoval, John Kasich, Bill Haslam). Others thought they could simply read from ALEC's script in Ronald Reagan's voice and failed miserably at it (Sam Brownback, Paul LePage, Tom Corbett).

It's Oklahoma. I'm pretty sure Jesus (D) would lose to Satan (R), though Jesus might keep it within single digits.

Fallin will win, though Dorman may come within single digits. Oklahoma is a scary, scary place.

That was before the black guy was in the White House and is therefore irrelevant. Tongue

One of his newer ads positions him as more conservative on guns than Mary Fallin (Dorman gets an A+ from the NRA). This certainly gets me more on board than I already am, but it's a good strategy considering the type of Democrats we have in this state (very conservative).

He's sort of sticking to the basics - pro-gun, fiscally responsible, pro-education. Exactly what a Democrat needs to win.

Dorman isn't inspiring enough to win this, he's not Brad Henry... Fallin probably wins by less than 10 but not that much of a headache

I expect a bunch of the counties in the southeast corner to come in Democratic, but I think Fallin will win by 8-10.

I still think Fallin will win by 10-14 points.

Joe Dorman was elected in a R+25 district, a district that is even more conservative than Oklahoma overall.

I would like him to win, but, unfortunately, that won't happen...

GOP State Senator Patrick Anderson endorses Joe Dorman for Governor after Fallin continually refused to meet with him.
