It would be interesting to see McCain run for reelection again. I suspect he'd be in for a fairly competitive race compared to his prior ones, but at least the Senate race wouldn't be a pure tossup like it could end up if McCain retires.

I hope Democrats don't wuss out like they did in Maine this year and actually go for this race, whether or not McCain retires. There's no reason he can't be beaten, especially because he'll probably have a nasty primary.
