I really can't fathom the thinking behind this.  I mean, I could totally believe that we have a Svensson sock lurking among us right now, but that it would be GaussLaw (or, really, that Gauss is a sock of any sort) seems rather farfetched to me.

Not sure, but it must be someone. The apparent "claiming to be German while posting from the US" thing is bizarre.

Sources indicate that his account is linked to numerous IP proxies worldwide. In addition to that, his profile lists a disposable junk e-mail service as his e-mail account. Both are suspicious.

Ok, yeah, that is in fact suspicious.

I don't really see the Svensson similarity (and this is coming from someone who could tell pretty immediately that BradyNH was Svensson), but I guess I can't rule out the possibility that perhaps there are some subtleties that might be more obvious to folks who have been around longer than I, and thus had more exposure to his earlier incarnations.

Eh, as you said, whatever, live and let post. I'm all in favor of cracking down on disruptive trolls (and keeping things honest in fantasyland for those who care about that) but I don't think GaussLaw falls into those categories.
