not that I expect McConnell to lose, I'd put him at a 3:1 favorite or so, but, quite the historical anomaly is within the realm of possibility.

Not that I can think of. Closest would be Dems in 1950. Dirksen beat Lucas but the Dems retained Senate control.

Not what you asked but Newtie resigned after the 1998 election, in which the GOP retained control of the House.
